Doesn't seem like any of the guide will work on a Mac ?
if i can't download and unzip/open sox.exe then i can't do as the guide suggests
I also can't find POILoader.exe {its a windows file]
Don't know what else to do!
The main reason for me to have the pgpsw camera database is the real voice warnings |

if you have a windows disc - use install windows and use bootcamp to windows - it will be a lot simpler |

Sorry maybe I'm missing something but you won't simply 'find it', you need to download it and then install it. Note POI Loader will install on a mac. As I'm getting bored I did a simple google search for you
http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3697
Also a google search reveals sox.exe isn't required for the mac version of POI Loader so you can skip that step. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Then as posted above forget sox.exe and move on to Step 5 _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Think I've done it , will go for a drive tomorrow and give it a try
what threw my was trying to insert sox.exe , which proved to be impossible
but seems to have worked without
had a moment when trying to download the database , was only getting the licence text !
but remembered from last time [tom tom] i had to use a separate download link
for the Mac
will post tomorrow with results
thanks for the help [and patience ] |

Unless you have put sox.exe into the same folder as POILoader, you will not get spoken alerts. What is the problem in doing that? Is it the Apple thing about locking down the program files so that you can't 'get at' them or is it that you don'y know where to look? |

I don't think mac POI Loader needs sox.exe, the mac must have another way of dealing with it ... but who knows, I've never used one _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Perhaps they thought far enough ahead to include iyt in the installation set. Nar, that can't be right. |

My IMac tells me "sox.exe " is a Windows file format and cannot be used in any way on a Mac
That's what has been my problem all along !
I have POILoader installed ( Mac version) never had a problem downloading it !
But it's in no way compatible with the instructions I was pointed to ,that has been my only problem
( not been out in my car to check yet ) |

Well as pointed out to you those are Windows instructions so you needed to adapt them to your Mac as appropriate. Hopefully you've now done that and can report back all works. You could even write your own guide for Mac users _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

So your next step is to either go out past a camera, or, put the Garmin into GPS simulation mode and plot a route past a camera. _________________ DashCam:

I've added a note to the bottom of the POILoader tutorial, saying to start at step 5 on Mac OS , as you can't insert sox.exe |
