GO300 was my very first - it took one trip to convert me from paper maps to satnav, excellent device. If yours still works OK, keep it running. All you'll miss is new maps, but so many people never update their maps and don't seem to get lost.
No, none of the new TomToms will work for pgpsw cameras. _________________ Dennis

hi Dennis, thanks for the reply, what a site this really is! top dollar! having just given up work i thought i would spoil myself with a new model. after trying to do an update on my old 300 received the message from tt telling me to bin my old trusted 300 which by the way took me last year all the way to Barcelona and then on to Menorca ( after an overnight ferry!!) and within 5 yards of where we needed to be. as we will be doing this trip more often that was the reason for a newer model, this has to do tt damage as well as pgps makes no sense to me at all! had been looking at a tt start 50 or 60 your honest view on these would be much appreciated? on these new tomtom's can you still download all the old night screens etc?
thanks for your time once again. alan |

As M8TJT has said, if you want to keep on using the PGPSW camera warnings on a satnav, you need to be looking at a Garmin model, not a Tomtom.

A GO700 took us round Europe in 2006 - same as your 300, just bigger innards.
My advice to you is to keep running your 300 and get a new model with lifetime maps and Traffic. Run the two alongside each other, that's what I do. You'll benefit from the maps and Traffic of the new model whilst still keeping the functionality of the 300, including Pgpsw cameras.
Although I tried, I could never get on with any makes except TomTom. _________________ Dennis

Yes, the VIA 135 was the last model that could use the PGPSW cameras.
There are still some available new, e.g. at Argos for £109.99. Includes lifetime Europe maps, but that's TomTom's idea of lifetime, not yours and mine! _________________ Anita

Given TT's recent obsolescence statement is it wise to buy a 135 or similar age unit, new or not. _________________ DashCam:
