Confirmed - everything works as it should despite a few users finding they didn't.
Garmin have changed a few sub-menus around so it looks like there is nothing where we are used to finding them - they now are listed under a new Driver Assistance menu.
Just tested and all voice and visuals work as they should. _________________ DriveLuxe 51 LMT D - Firmware 6.80

Good
Funny how one user has issues with both the new 51 range and the old 50 range.
Very strange. _________________ DashCam:

ping Kremmen
I have now managed to solve the problem. I found that the 'sox.exe' file was corrupted. As soon as I obtained a new file everything worked perfectly.
Many thanks are due to the helpers and my apologies for effectively wasting peoples time. |

Can we backpedal a bit.
Are you saying that it was just the voices you didn't have on the 51 and 50 or, as we first assumed, the whole camera notification with no icon and sound (no nothing) ? _________________ DashCam:

It wasn't just the voices, it was icons, sound everything.
To recap....transfer to units using POILoader went exactly as always with correct notifications. I could see on the maps the icons in their respective correct places however on the road, nothing. |

Surely a corrupt sox.exe would not make the whole POILoader thing fail completely, would it? |

Nope.
Icons, banners and alerts work just fine with no sox, all you don't get is the wav linked voices. _________________ DashCam:

OK, we know what happens with no sox.exe, but what happens if it's corrupt? I wonder from where sealion got his copy of sox.exe?
And was it really that which caused the prob? |

Difficult to be sure but I reckon it was more than a sox.exe problem. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

All I know is what I personally experienced. Some of you are obviously more knowledgeable in these matters.
All I can do is report my own findings. One minute nothing seems to work properly and then I change one part of the equation and everything then seems to have been fixed.
I cannot explain it any further and will now leave all speculation to you all. |

One last comment.....BAVC10 states that all working OK in the Garmin Drive series and yet his signature says a Driveluxe 50.
I would very much like it confirmed by an owner of a 51 that everything works for them. |

But I thought Garmin support had confirmed that the Custom POI alerts wouldn't work on that range?!?
It might be that SOX wasn't corrupt - just the wrong version. There are lots of flavours of .WAV file, and at some point, the default type produced by SOX was changed.
POILoader just copies the .WAV file into the .GPI. All bets are off, when it comes to the action a particular firmware, in a particular unit, might take on encountering the wrong flavour...
The first Garmin bug I encountered, was do with the wrong flavour of .BMP file. My StreetPilot C510 used to crash every time I went near a Netto supermarket |
