Looking at Google Street View, West Hyde Lane is narrow but those pictures were taken in summer. At the moment the verges are soft swamps so passing is very difficult and you also meet lorries coming the other way which results in chaos with a line of cars as these roads are not quiet. There is also significant flooding although no SatNav would know that. This week the best route which was longer was M25, M40 (J1A-J1), A40 then A413.
Different people would choose different types of roads and it would be useful to have the option to choose on the SatNav. There are more road type options and speed settings in Basecamp (Activity Profiles - Driving - Routing - Speed - Customise), so the Garmin maps have that information built in. _________________ Drivelux |

I've had TomTom take me down single track roads instead of along dual carriageways, overall routing on all devices isn't perfect
Between the devices, Garmin wins on interface, traffic, customisation, poi and 3rd party cameras - tomtom win only on routing and even then not perfect and map view

I too used to have IGO8 and can vouch for the confidence the "Easy" route selection gives.
I regularly write to Garmin suggesting they add such on option to their satnavs. I don't know why they don't - they must be able to filter out all single track roads &c. - as they make versions for trucks and mobile homes.
Garmin Share Ideas is the link for you to comment. |

Yes, but:
a. Do the truck/mobile home versions filter out single track roads?
If so:
b. if they change the bog standard one to do that, they would possibly lose sales of truck/mobile home devices |

Well, we know the data is available. They put it in the truck versions (apparently). iGO sure miss out one track roads and low bridges if you say you are in a truck. |

Difficult to know what logic they use but whoever submitted the data for a single track road as being a valid route ........ _________________ DashCam:
