I don't know if this helps.

www.tenforums.com/tutorial/3436-run-administrator-windows-10-a.html

Option Ten looks as if it might fit the bill.

Thanks

I'll have a look on mine, but, Clickonce apps are designed to not put anything into Program Files or the Registry so I can guess I won't find anywhere to set that flag.

What may be the best temporary solution is to provide the M8 supplied workaround, with pictures. It's a bit of a faff but works.

I'm hoping that a shortcut can be created once and continue to work when a new version is installed.

I've posted on TechNet to see if anyone has any bright ideas.

Problem with option 10 is that the path to the exe changes per installation. On my lappy it's:
C:\Users\Trev\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\N27301Y0.Z4G\68XGXOC5.O70\csvt..tion_5c04913408266626_07e0.000c_47f218bd032fdf76
and on my main computer it's:
C:\Users\trev_000\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\5H6AXE37.WQO\HVYP8GCX.6XW\csvt..tion_5c04913408266626_07e1.0001_b0b769fed68abbf2

Not very user friendly.
But if you make a shortcut from the exe, and it's fine, but a lot of faffing around when it should 'just work'.

I've got v51 on my lappy at the mo, so I'll install v52 later and see if the shortcut to the exe still works.
NO it doesn't. And you have to set the new shortcut properties to 'Shortcut' ~ 'Advanced' ~ 'Run as administrator'

Trev

As a test, I'll send you my /2.0/ folder structure from Win7, and my desktop shortcut.

These have been created by Win7 and work on Win7.

Once in place on your PC via a copy/paste that will determine whether it's a Win10 'setup' issue or a Win10 'run' issue.

On Win 10, there is an alternative to Run as administrator in Properties. On the shortcut tab, you can click the Advanced link just below the centre right and select Run as administrator there.
Either method works, and depending on your UAC settings you will get the UAC popup to allow you to run the program.

@Kremmen.
You need to update the version number in post #1 and perhaps add a pointer to the above for W10 users.
Just tried it with a fresh d/l and working fine. Just the usual UAC 'warning'.

The issue with Microsoft Clickonce and Win10 has been solved.

My thanks to M8TJT who has downloaded and tested umpteen versions whilst we battled to get to the bottom of the issue. (and has been awarded the silver medal)

Therefore the latest version 2017.01.10.56 is here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4kpnpbwlk6k2e78/CSV%20to%20GPX%20Installer.zip?dl=0

Also, move the updated .htm and .pdf help files to your Working Directory.

What I want to know is what kind of programmer tries to write all kinds of junk to the user's C: root anyway? If I only get the silver, the wooden spoon should go to Kremmen.Shocked
Now get the Direction converter sorted K.Rolling Eyes

On a serious not, I have been happy to get it sorted for W10 users. Gold to Kremmen.
Users cannot write a file to the root of the C: drive in W10 (and we suspect W8 as well) even if their account is set as administrator. Users can create folders in C:root and then write to them willy nilly.

Laughing

What was good was finding a dozen or so 'same problem' posts over the net with Win10 (and Win8) v Clickonce but no real solutions.

We have Very Happy

It's a Microsoft blunder. Their statement that Clickonce applications will raise the user privileges when required isn't true under some circumstances.

Found and fixed.

But it seems to be working just fine, doesn't it?
