The issue for me not buying a new TT is because I want to use the best UK speed camera database.
I'm not confident that the TT camera database is as up to date as they would have you believe, based on a few posts I've seen here.
What I don't know for sure is how the camera warnings are presented. What I do know is the Garmin warnings, with a bit of tweaking, can be an easily heard female voice announcing what the type and speed is = eyes on the road, plus a large (44x44) very clear speed icon.
There really is no competition for me.
If TT went back to accepting .OV2 and .BMP files with the user set proximity and 'warn only when on route' then I'd have another look. _________________ DashCam:

If TomTom had a policy of improving its devices (i.e. retaining all existing functionality whilst adding new functionally) then I wouldn't have a problem with TomTom deeming when the useful life of its older products is over after a reasonable time frame. However TomTom's current batch of SatNavs is frustratingly inferior to the devices that TomTom has just stopped supporting - that's the problem.

TT database is not up to date - on the go5000 I no longer use them and have my mobile performing the need of a speed camera warning (until I open my garmin on xmas day)
this one of the reasons I have decided to switch back as sick of the reduced features of the device, even their new wifi devices have the limitations, yet they reckon they listen to their customers of which I've pointed out to them if they were, why 3 years later are we still waiting for features to be implemented that were on the old devices. |

This is why I run three TomToms in my van.
Original GO520 for ease of use and lots of features which later ones have lost. All it lacks is HD Traffic.
GO6100. Decent size screen, HD Traffic works quite frequently. Ease of use just isn't. Updates from computer are so slow I can't do them if I'm getting ready to go out. Why with today's deepset windscreens don't they offer a remote control?
Built in Renault R-Link Tomtom. Probably the worst TT I've ever owned and it SHOULD have been the best! _________________ Dennis

Well again my go5000 failed on another 200 mile trip
Jane guidance and junction view was sporadic
Camera alerts were sporadic
Love Services failed after 45 minutes of driving
Voice navigation stopped all together but had odd bursts of camera notifications
Standard response from TomTom everyone is to perform a factory reset and if continues to send in for repair.
I would get repaired but out of warranty and 3rd go5000 |

I find it best to check what I have written before I post and then recheck the post to correct any stupid auto completes. |

Just helps to prove the inaccuracy of their database. _________________ DashCam:

I have never reported a camera to TomTom. First, why give a competitor any help? Second, they have such a poor record of acting on reports anyway, it wouldn't be any use. And what store do they place on user reports anyway - they gave up on device reports for MapShare, one of their better ideas (albeit implemented in the usual incompetent TT manner), so they obviously don't give users any merit for credibility. _________________ Dennis
