I have a Go 750, which when the map is updated, I copy back the mapsettings.cfg file from my backup on the PC on the frequent occasions the update wipes my favourites, speed camera settings etc.
I also have a Mazda with a built in TomTom unit (ND1 I think). This also looses favourites and other settings when the map is updated. I have to manually reset speed camera settings and favourites each time as I cannot find a mapsettings.cfg file in my backups. I have several going back to when the car was new, so it seems there never has been such a file on this unit. There must be another file in the software that does the job but I'm blowed if I can identify it. I have done a search of the forum and google. I can find one reference od an ND1 unit and no mapsettings.cfg file (so I am not alone) but there was no resolution in the thread.
If anybody can help I will be grateful and in the meantime another tedious hour resetting everything!
Many thanks _________________ Go 750 thats nearly working |

Apparently there's no equivalent file for saving your settings on these devices |

Is there no way of saving a few settings on the car and see which file(s) are changed and saved. _________________ DashCam:

Perhaps you could save your favourites as POIs instead, that used to be a solution as new maps would pick up the POIs from the previous map.
It won't help with speed camera settings and it may not work for your variety of built in device. _________________ Dennis

Thanks for your replies, I'll use PO is instead of Favourites, as Dennis suggests and grin and bare in putting the speed camera distances and sounds in after each map update.
When I have the chance I will try Kremmen's suggestion. The data must be stored somewhere........
Thanks again _________________ Go 750 thats nearly working |
