|
|
Hi All,
Been a member for a good number of years and its ages since I last used the forum.
I've had a good search but come up with nothing as the forum is MASSIVE !!
So, at the risk of duplicating (apologies in advance):
Q: I've bought a START 60 to replace my old XXL and cant see how to import the OV2s. I'm using a MAC lappie.
Any suggestions on how to go about this?
Thanks in advance.

The simple answer is you can't, or not the way you want to
You can add ov2 files via MyDrive (or whatever they call it now), but no image file to identify it and no sounds for proximity alerts. All you will get is a white circle where your POI is and the ability to navigate to it.

I've got the same problem as Philip, does anyone know of a workaround? |

The latest TT's of the last few years or so do not allow third party POI's with the required advance warning that cameras need.
= as above, can't be done any more.
The answer to your next question is Garmin _________________ DashCam:

As an unhappy TomTom owner I was going to say Garmin even though I don't gave any Garmin units, however Kremmen beat me to it!
I really don't understand why TomTom are so hell bent on reducing functionality of their products when TomTom used to be such an innovative company that add functionality like thrid party POIs.
TomTom won't listen to any form of communication (support, TomTom's own forum, even emailing the CEO and others). TomTom seems to be interested in diversification of its product range (good) at the expense of its SatNav products (very bad).
Unless things change ie. TomTom reinstates third party POIs (which I don't expect) I won't buy any new TomTom products and I'll recommend that nobody else does either!

I made this very same decision a year or so ago for the very same reason. I opted for the Garmin 2699LMT-D. The more people make the move away from TT, the more they should sit up and listen but, as is the norm, people tend to be creatures of habit.
The majority of people who have sat-nav's only use their basic functionality for getting from A to B and don't know how to tweak the devices for extended uses. |
