A few months ago Inrix updated their 'Inrix Traffic' app. It now includes navigation and a few other updates.

I went on a lengthy train journey yesterday and for the whole 6 hour journey my phone was quite hot in my pocket because the GPS was constantly running. I thought nothing of it until my phone turned off because the power had dropped below 5%, it was 100% when I set off.

When I looked in the battery usage area Inrix had used 82% of my battery and drained it in just under 6 hours.

With no option to temporarily kill it off normally I've uninstalled it.

I only installed it to help Inrix get traffic info from me as well. The older version was fine.

Part 2.....

I've just uninstalled it from the tablet because Norton has flagged it up as a serious privacy risk because it is showing significant 'data mining' activity.

Wonder what they are up to?

I would guess that the 'data mining' is the very thing you wanted it for... FOr them to monitor your location and how much you're moving. How else can they use you for traffic info if they don't store that data and send it to their servers?!

Possibly.

The latest version on the phone certainly did that as posted but the version on the tablet was the old version as my tablet is incompatible with the newer versions.

My tablet stays indoors so no real need for it.

What did concern me though was the warning level from Norton. I've seen other app warnings but this one was flagged red, I've only seen amber before.
