This is more a public announcement as there's a lot of "This might work" where the volvo systems are concerned.
The database DOES work with a GPX import from the menu within the navigation system. Just shove it on a USB or CD, pop it into the relevant slot and select it from the system. Then it will ask which file you want to import. |

Thanks for the heads up on that. I'm sure that the info will be useful to someone with a Volvo. |

|
|
I'm resurrecting this thread as my query is an extension of the original one. I've successfully loaded the camera database onto the Sensus sat nav in my Volvo XC70 and it displays the camera icons in the correct locations. I notice that there is a sound section in the Volvo upload menu and I want to load the verbal camera announcements. These have to be loaded in a separate operation from loading the camera files. Can anyone tell me which files are the voice announcements that will play on the Sensus system. _________________ Volvo SENSUS, TomTom Go 300 and TomTom Start 25 |

|

Sorry if this is bad manners but I'm bumping this thread as I don't seem to have had anyone visit who knows the answer to my question. I need to know which file type is used to contain the voice commands for the Volvo Sensus sat nav system. Is there anyone out there who knows? Thanks _________________ Volvo SENSUS, TomTom Go 300 and TomTom Start 25 |

The only person who seems to have got it working or knows anything about your system seems to be atlaz and he seems not to want to come back or hasn't noticed your post. But his original post was over two years ago.[/i] |

Are there any Volvo forums around? I've always found more in depth model/manufacturer help there. _________________ DashCam:

There are but the threshold problems of even getting upgrades to the system totally preoccupy Volvo owners! Adding bespoke voice commands are way beyond anything that any Volvo owner seems to have yet attempted. However, I'm only asking what the file type designation (suffice) would be for a sound file capable of running on the Sensus system which I believe is a NavTech product. The site provides graphics, positioning and sound files for a whole range of systems. Does anyone know which files are sound files for Volvo? _________________ Volvo SENSUS, TomTom Go 300 and TomTom Start 25 |

Well, there are only two main types. MP3 and WAV. If your device does not have an MP3 player, then it's WAV only. And for that, you might need an eatra file (sox.exe is used on Garmin devices). But unless you can positively identify the satnav software makers (not the device or map makers) it's difficult to advise. |

Ah. Forgot them. It depends on the system what sound files it uses. |

The Volvo Sensus system uses maps by Here.Com and in the system list in PGPSW the download is listed as "Other GPX" Does that download include sound files for the Volvo system?
Volvo inform me that they don't allow the addition of any sounds to their Sensus nav system so I'll display the cameras on the Sensus map and have my hidden old TomTom make the announcements. _________________ Volvo SENSUS, TomTom Go 300 and TomTom Start 25 |
