Hi, Think I am on a hiding to nothing trying to install the data base on my Kia Niro sat nav. I have ascertained that it will take the KML/GPX data bases but the system will only allow a max of 5000 POI so just installs the first 5000 then tells me its to large . any sensible suggestions please, Johnbull

It would be good if you could edit out the big empty space and the duplicate post. |

The blank space was much bigger than that Dennis, with the message repeated at the bottom. |

In the main manufacturer built in units are a mystery. They all have their own way of locking down the devices and different ways of working with POI's, or not.
By far the best advice will be on a Kia owner forum as I don't recall seeing any Kia posts here.
In a way you answered your own question with the 5,000 max entries. All you can possibly do is narrow the camera POI's to where you need them and discard the rest.
It is possible to load the lat/longs into Excel and use a NW and SE limit to identify only the cams in that 'box'. _________________ DashCam:

As K says, not knowing about your specific satnav makes it very difficult to answer questions about it.
So it seems like you have found the facility to add user POIs, but does the system warn you when you are approaching them? If not, then you might find that an alternative method of camera detection would suit your needs better. This site does a smartphone app that uses the PGPWS data, and it's directional, with adjustable warning times.
There you go. I've got my sensible head on this morning. |

Hi,
Many thanks that's more what I was expecting , this is a brand new model and system working on TTom mapping so it does have live traffic data and cameras but I would have liked to use the data I have used for years which I trust as well, as I did with my recent Nissan but it looks as though I will not be able to , thanks for your replies , I am going to look into whether I could import directly onto the sd card , but have my doubts. cheers |

Might I suggest an alternative scheme. I had similar problems with the Volvo Sensus built in sat nav, although I have managed to load the camera locations and icons now. However, before this was possible, I put an old TomTom Go300 into a storage locker in the car and loaded a voice set which identified the type and speed restriction of the cameras. I raised the volume to full and plugged it into the car's electrical system. The Go300 goes live whenever the ignition is on and although the Sensus unit did not display the locations until recently, at least the PGPSW database made verbal announcements of impending cameras. I am still using this workaround until I can find a way of loading the voice set into the Sensus unit as it only offers three bland and uninformative tones for POIs and then only at a much shorter range than the TomTom. All the issues with the Volvo Sensus unit may be able to be overcome but the voice from the storage locker which is always available when the car running, is as good as I probably need. This strategy may help you for the price of a cheap old TomTom on ebay. _________________ Volvo SENSUS, TomTom Go 300 and TomTom Start 25 |

But if you do go down the route suggested, please come back and ask if the TT is suitable. TT removed the user POI proximity alert in their later models. A Garmin could also be a choice as they stil 'do' proximity alerts and they take pretty much unlimited POIs |

That could save me a problem as I was contemplating using a later TomTom as the G0300 is the old bulbous shape and takes up a lot more room than the flatter later models. Perhaps I'll just leave well alone and stick with the Go300! _________________ Volvo SENSUS, TomTom Go 300 and TomTom Start 25 |

Perhaps one of our resident TT experts can come up with a list of those that are compatible, or link to said list. I couldn't find one on a cursory search. |
