It's feared that the Brexit vote may lead to the UK's space sector being excluded from the EU's Galileo satellite navigation project.

With Galileo business amounting to an estimated £6 billion the loss would seriously affect the UK's ambition to grow its share of the world space market. Thales, a Franco/Italian company has already raised questions about UK companies involvement in Galileo and there is rising concern that the Brexit vote will lead to a weakened position when bidding for space contracts.

Paul Verhoef, ESA’s director of satellite navigation has stated that there would be no discrimination against UK companies but that political pressure would be unavoidable once Article 50 comes into effect and the exit process begins.

Hmm, so all the workers involved will have lost all their skill because of a vote then, unlikely.

It's not a loss of skill but a reduction in opportunity as the terms of collaboration will lean towards EU partners first. The UK is seeking to go it alone which will lead to employment and trade restrictions.

I think John, bearing the numbers involved they would prefer a proven record, form the ones who've done it and got it right before.

To move it would be actually quite petty and cost billions more €s

I think this will (once the dust has settled) be across the board.

Ha ha...

1/3rd of you decided you'd had enough of the EU, so you're leaving. Don't start whining now because you lose the benefits of being a member.

It started the day after the vote. Cornwall voted to leave then called for the tax payers in the rest of the country to replace all that lovely moolah they were getting from the EU

Right about the time your friends Johnson and Farrage announced the 350 million was a fairy story. You couldn't make this stuff up. Legends...

I know off topic, but it was bound to be mentioned here, because it is of national importance.
Haven't left the EU yet, but a bout of redundancy, economic recession, raising prices will certainly concentrate the mind. Nissan already announced hold on investment, probably looking for suitable places in Eastern Europe or Ireland. Other large companies are probably in holding mode.
Unfortunately the turkeys voted for Christmas and will start howling when reality strikes and they approach the chopper, and will blame everybody except themselves - forgetting that they believed the lies of the Leave camp.
Already you can see that Johnson, Leadsome, Gove, Stuart, Farage, etc will be fine; its the likes of us who will suffer.
Not to say the EU didn't have its faults, but from outside we'll still have to follow their rules and there's nothing we'll be able to do about it.

Except that it was a disaster and in fact the whole UK lost and reality will strike.
There is still time to try and influence your MP.
Get ready for the "you lost, live with it" brigade to jump in here.

My son works in London for a global non-European company in medical technology. He's telling me they're considering shifting everything but the bare minimum to be centred on Bruxelles. They're concerned about uncertain restricted employment movement and possible trade tariffs coupled with the current unstable currency issues.

Not surprising. My son works for a Far Eastern bank in the City of London and their management is also treading water waiting to see what to do..

What policies? They had - and have - none apart from the "Take Back Control" mantra by which they managed to actually lose control.. Hence they bugg'rd off as soon as they won, leaving others to clear up their mess..

And presumably you believed the lies dished out by the remain brigade. Don't accuse the exiteers of lying without the acknowledgement that the other side lied through their teeth as well.

Meanwhile we wait to see if the Italian banks will take the Eurozone over the brink.

Leave camp promises gone by the wayside:
350mil per week for the NHS (claim they never said that!)
Reduced migration, (now expected to increase)
The economy wouldn't be effected, (markets in turmoil, pound in freefall)
Research & Science expect the same funding (they have since promised some unspecified figure)
Turkey was about to join the EU (not any time soon and now even further away)
Take Back Control (Lost Control as we will have to dance to EU rulings without any say in the matter)

The Remain camp warned about economic turmoil which was brushed aside as "Project Fear" now proved to be "Project we told you"
If you see a friend rushing towards a cliff edge and you shout a warning that he will fall and hurt himself, is it for his own protection or only to frighten him - or should you keep quiet and let him fall?

..

Fall in jobless @4.9% compared with France @9.9. Retail spending up by 1.4% in July. Amazon to create 2000 jobs. Lidl building new warehouse.
Exiters never said £350M for NHS, they said no £350M to those on the continent who squander it in a self serving setup that we voted to get rid of. Now get over it!
And you'll be pleased to know that I am saying no more about it, so don't bother replying to my post.
But before I go, nothing that the project fear brigade prophesied has come to fruition, and some have even said that they were wrong.

As Thales has defence contracts with the MOD I presume they will cancel these too in the interests of the EU.

I thought it was the leave campaign promised money to NHS.
Markets in turmoil, true, they keep rising.
Pound on freefall, actually no, dropped certainly but anticipation Euro will be on turmoil.
Turkey, who believed the hype and anyway it is Turkey that nailed that one
Control? We have yet to implement Article 50 let alone get a copy of the hymn sheet.

The crux is that NOTHING has happened apart from the financial puppet masters pulling strings to make money. Now had we been in bbc the been the the Eurok it would have been a cluster F of unimaginable proportions.
