Many thanks - I have now done as suggested.
Running a simulated route suggests that the speed camera warnings are now functioning correctly; I have disabled the Garmin Speed Camera Warnings so as not to confuse the situation.
HOWEVER:
The simulated route produced no voice warnings (I did download them). Searching this website suggests that I should have selected the .WAV files; I had selected the .MPG files.
So I have now uninstalled all POI's (and hopefully installed the correct files including the .WAV files for the Garmin).
BUT:
POI Loader gave multiple warnings as follows:
"Unable to convert (filename).wav to the proper format, therefore this audio file was not transferred".
Any ideas please?
Many thanks

That's an indication you haven't got sox.exe installed. See here
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/speed-camera-alerts-garmin.php
Basically you need to install sox.exe in the same folder as poiloader.exe _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

It is, as suss says, the folder in which POI Loader.exe is installed. This is typically in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\POI Loader' folder. If you still get WAV errors, then you have put sox.exe in the wrong folder.
In case you can't find it elsewhere, the correct version of sox.exe is in the zip file of Kremmen's CSV-GPX converter here https://www.dropbox.com/s/4kpnpbwlk6k2e78/CSV%20to%20GPX%20Installer.zip?dl=0
Unzip sox.exe and copy/paste it into the folder I indicated above. |

Success ....hopefully.
I've only tried a simulated route so far, but camera warnings seem to be working ok. At first I had no voice warnings, but a bit of searching revealed that I should have installed (for my Garmin) the .WAV files option and not the .MPG files I originally installed (I also had to download a file called "SOX.EXE" in order to enable POI Loader to install the .WAV files successfully).
I'll road test in the morning and report back...
Many thanks.

Now for your other POIs and EU speed cams?
PS has your keyboard not got a 3 key? The wrong sound files for your device are .MP3 not .MPH |

I've loaded UK, EU and POIs already
Hopefully the UK bit will be fine (confirm tomorrow, along with the POIs); the EU will have to wait a little while.
.MPG? Confusion between .MP3 and .MPEG....... |

Can you not run a sim route past an EU cam? I haven't tried myself. Find one on the submission map. |

How do I set a start point on the map? Otherwise running the sim route will mean I don't go past the camera until 4am tomorrow...
At present the route will start at my current location, and it takes quite a while to drive to Italy....
Thanks.

Once you're in simulation mode scroll the map to a point near where you want to check, then tap the map. You should see a box that says 'Set location'. Tap it and you car icon should appear at that spot. Its now like the car is there so any route you choose will start from that point. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I'm not getting the "Set Location" option; I do get a blue circle but can't seem to do anything with it.
Many thanks

You won't unless you're in simulation mode. Settings, Navigation, GPS Simulator ... Tick the box _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Finally got there...just before I put the b****y thing thru' the wall....
I had to do as follows:
SETTINGS
NAVIGATION
Scroll down to GPS SIMULATOR and select/tick
Return to Home Page
APPS
TRIP PLANNER
+
Select Start Location
Address (enter start point/town etc)
SELECT
+
Select Destination
Address (enter destination point/town etc)
SELECT
[Display should now show the CREATE TRIP page, with Start Point (1) and Destination (2) ]
NEXT (enter name, e.g. "Test")
DONE
GO
START
Display should now show "Simulate Driving this route?"
YES
This was the only way I could achieve the desired result. I tried starting with a route from my current (UK) location to the EU destination, but dragging the map across and then zooming in to somewhere close to the EU speed camera in the hope that I could then select a new start point just would not play, despite extensive attempts. Either the s/w on my sat nav differs to other models, or I'm a complete numpty.
Anyway, I have now managed to confirm that the EU speed camera locations downloaded a couple of days ago are working ok
Many thanks for all your help!
