I always keep my old Garmin as a backup for holidays having had problems when the 765 chips all stopped working!
I got out the 1690 to update to the latest maps. This went fine and restarted OK. However it had problems getting a satellite fix. After a bit it warned that the battery was low.
I charged it from the USB port of the PC. When I tried to start it again it got stuck at the Garmin Logo. I tried starting it with a master reset with no luck.
I then hooked it up to a car starter pack via the car charger. It drained that overnight and still hangs at the Garmin logo
Is there anything else I can do or has it had it please? |

Hanging at the Garmin logo is normally an indication of a corrupt map install, generally caused by not doing a safe eject after a map update. Problem is that while Express may report update is complete Windows may still be sending data to your satnav.
If that is the issue it can be resolved but not easily. Google garmincure3 for information. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Thanks for this.
However, I always do a safe eject. It started normally the first time and showed the map etc. It then stuck at the Garmin Logo at the next start.
I've downloaded Garmincure but it won't get past the Garmin logo even when plugged into the PC. I've tried holding the top left of the screen as noted in some of the posts but that doesn't work.
Any suggestions as to how to get into it gratefully received.

Well I've only had to use the garmincure3 method once, but the key is getting your nuvi into pre-boot mode, in which case you shouldn't see the Garmin logo I don't believe. Timing to get the unit into pre-boot is tricky so you may just need to try a few times until it works. Beyond that I'm not really able to help but posting in the forums that discuss garmincure3 might do so. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
