I have the full UK & Ireland as well as USA & Canada versions of the software and I'm not going to give up a perpetual licence for a 1/3 year subscription model.
I'll stick with the old version to fill in when I lose data to run Waze. |

But you don't have too - you can get the 3 years free AND keep your existing app (but this app will no longer be developed, the new one will so you MAY end up preferring the new app and the deal that goes with it over time - but either way trying it has nothing to loose) _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

To call the new app development, is like calling a plane crash progress! |

I didn't have the Go version until this week. I travel to the US and normally load the map from the store as I bought it for the old app and delete it for space on my return. Tried it this week and cannot find the USA map for the app, so had a go with GO.
I have a 5001 so know the interface and happy enough with it, but I liked the old app for allowing a speed to a destination, doing 2,000km trips is done at a speed I know and not the top speed of an Germany motorway....
Having bought the maps for the old app, I bought the subscription for GO, but unable to find full European mapping anymore, so seems rather a downgrade from what I have, so use the old app for the real world and GO for trips to the US :-( _________________ in the 128 |

Version 1.2 released today.
You can now programme work as a menu item like the Stand alone version, the map is updated to 970, and you can use in landscape mode which will give you more search results when setting a destination, amongst other things.
It's beginning to look more like a stand alone unit _________________ Mike

Mine must have updated the version by itself OTA or by wi-fi.
Anyway, it's now on v1.2 since 14 June (yesterday). But there's no sign of map 970 so how did spikeymikey get his? Note, the landscape search mode is iPhone 6/6 Plus and higher only.
The update information has a final paragraph which says Quote: | In addition, the app is now ready to receive map updates. You will be notified in the app when a map update is available for download. |

Hi Dennis,
I updated the APP to v1.2 last night. When I started the new app it didn't show me that there were any map updates.
However this morning, i.e. Wednesday 15th June 2016, when I started the TomTom GO Mobile app I was advised that the Europe map was available to download - its size being 6.85 GB!

Well, I've given it a few on and offs but nothing yet. Maybe tomorrow. _________________ Dennis

Hi Dennis,
Try switching maps:
Menu | Settings | Maps
You should get a message "Update available for this map" that stays on the top of the screen only for about 5 seconds so you have to be quick to tap the message before it disappears.

I had already played with that without success. _________________ Dennis

I'm not greatly bothered about it as I don't use the app anyway - just want it for holiday in Greek island in a fortnight. I guess it'll update some time. I'll load the app for my trip to Manchester tomorrow (perhaps). _________________ Dennis

That's strange! Do you have any additional maps? If not try downloading a small one and then switching back to your original map.
If that doesn't work try downloading another map for the area of your choice. I.e. if if you want United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland then chose another map that includes that map that you haven't already got, e.g. : United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland; Western Europe; or Europe.
If that doesn't work then delete all of your maps and the app an then restart.
Good luck! _________________ Robert.
