Do you use Kremmen’s excellent CSV to GPX Converter to customise your PGPSW camera alerts?
Well he has now added an option for Directional Voice Warnings!

PGPSW speed cameras can now be sorted by direction (NSEW) so that you’ll know if the camera warning applies to you.

Voice warnings will announce “Mobile...sixty... East” , “Specs...fifty...South” and so on.

Admittedly you’ll still get a warning if the camera points the other way, but now you will know where it points without trying to read the small print in the banner.

The new program is available from here
https://www.dropbox.com/s/3ydeapgmv5cyvmh/CSV%20Direction%20Converter%20Installer.zip?dl=1

The program uses the same working directory as the main CSV to GPX Converter, and it is run immediately before using the main converter. (Or, you can install directly with PoiLoader).

Before installing the program from the Installer package, please click on the help-file included, called “CSV Direction Converter.htm”. This contains useful information about the install process.

If you downloaded last week’s prototype version, then you should now upgrade to the full production edition.

One side-effect of sorting the cameras by direction, is that the Remove Adjacent facility in the main converter will not remove as many duplicates. This is because the “opposite direction” cameras on the same gantry, are now in a different file.

Existing users of the main program will notice that the Direction Converter uses a different version of the PGPSW database. This new program will now download the CameraManager3 version of the database. (The cameras are the same, but the direction is shown in degrees and the data is raw not speedzoned).

The file sizes of this new program, and its output, are larger than before. This is because there are four or five times as many voice files needed to speak all the new directional warnings.

Hi Dales. Does your program 'prepare' the .csv files into the right format for kremmen's converter program?

It's Kremmen's program. All his own work.

He just asked me to present it, so I can field any questions on directionality (which I helped him to develop).

And yes, the output is especially tailored to input seamlessly into the main CSV to GPX Converter. It uses the same Working Directory.

Dales.

The answer is 'yes'.

The Direction Converter reads the CameraManager3 file(s), strips out the direction and the final unneeded column so its basically the speed zoned set but instead of just say Gatso_fifty.csv it becomes:

Gatso_fifty_n.csv
Gatso_fifty_s.csv
Gatso_fifty_e.csv
Gatso_fifty_w.csv

In some categories there are entries with no speed or no direction so there are some suitably named bucket csv files made to capture rather than ignore them.

It does increase the file numbers somewhat and the gpx converter does take a bit longer.

One thing I forgot to mention is a huge thanks to M8TJT who devised this program.

Dales has been asking for ages for me to change the GPX Converter to accommodate the directional warnings but that would have involved a complete rewrite of the complex DOM Document routines that convert data into XML statements.

M8TJT wrote a concept program in Excel VBA and the rest is history.

If you used the download link in the post above yours, they are in the zip file Rolling Eyes The .wav and .bmp files need to go into your working folder.

And just for completeness as you didn't tell us exactly how you did it, you unzip them from the .zip file and copy the unzipped .BMP and .WAV files to your working folder.

New version due to a report.

This version stops the wrong zip file from being extracted. It will check the contents of the zip file selected and if it isn't the CameraManger3 zip file that contains 'pocketgps_uk_sc.csv' and/or 'pocketgps_uk_pmobile.csv' then it will not extract anything and a warning will be issued.

New Version

1) Bugfix, when changing between Individual or Combined reversible cameras the change was not being saved and used unless the program was immediately closed then restarted - fixed.

To assist with your choice a new status bar item (in yellow) has been added to the bottom of the form.

Note: 'Individual' cameras will produce both a West and East or North and South warning. 'Combined' will combine the reversible and just produce a single warning with no direction info.

2) PDF introduction available as per the CSV Converter.

3) After a suggestion the Setup.exe now has the version number included so this latest one is Setup_v13.exe.

There is a new folder in the download package - Picture Files Transparent (44x44).

But - not a new program version so no need to reinstall.

Thanks to M8TJT who has supplied a complete set of partially transparent icons for the 44x44 set.

These are based on the recent partial transparent set supplied for the GPX converter and removes all of the outer white areas for this large set.
