|
|
I had noticed that there hadnt been any new postings to this forum since last year and then I was beaten to being the first one!
I have a Nissan connect (version 2) in my 2015 Nissan Note. It is the first factory fitted GPS I have used, having had a couple of tomtom units previously.
I am pleasantly surprised by the connect unit, it is, after all, always there, no power leads, doesnt fall off the windscreen etc ....
But map updates just dont happen, do they!
I have the version E maps which were current when I bought the car 11 months ago, so there ought to be new ones. I wouldnt be very impressed if I bought a new car and it had maps over twelve months old.
Ebay has loads of the version E maps for sale (were do all the "original" maps come from?) but no later ones I can see.
Is there a later version yet that anyone knows? I will complain at the dealer when it goes in for its first service but I am not expecting them to know anything! _________________ TomTom Go 540 - V9.058, Map GB & Ireland 860.3101

The maps are usually updated on a yearly basis.
However they are not that up to date as the latest issue which came out around October/ November 2015 covers the period up to Q3/2014.
There is a lot of information on the Qashqai Owners Forum, for people like me who own a QQ. Is there a forum for Note owners?
The Nissan updates for a QQ cost £149 so not cheap. That's probably why people buy updates on EBay at half that price! |

The version I currently is up to late 2014, the car was new at May 2015 and came with this. It is this version which is on eBay.
The nissan connect 2 on the QQ is the same as on the Note.
I certainly don't expect to pay the dealers price! _________________ TomTom Go 540 - V9.058, Map GB & Ireland 860.3101

The latest card is the 2015/2016 version issued at the end of 2015 so this is the Connect card you need, for updating purposes. |

The version of the maps I have is, I believe, the version being offered by "everyone" on eBay, which is the version "E".
If there is a later version available has it not yet filtered down to eBay yet and the sellers there are people who have bought the "official" upgrade (from the dealer?) and selling the old version on eBay? _________________ TomTom Go 540 - V9.058, Map GB & Ireland 860.3101

The earlier cards for my QQ Connect had an E on label which means the map covers Europe. There was a T map for Turkey I understand.
My latest QQ Connect map card has label which says,
Nissan Connect (LCN1) Europe 2015/2016 with no E shown
You need to be careful that you get a 2015/2016 update that is suitable for the Connect 2 system on your Note.
Have a look on Note Owners Forum for more advice.
People do update via EBay and then sell their old card on EBay.
Cheaper than paying Nissan prices

PS
My card also has V6 on label
I suggest you look on the advert for 2015/16 cards on EBay by Black_Rojer as he has listed all the various types of cards available. |

Well, I do feel very, very silly Why I didnt realise that the "E" was for "Europe" I really dont know.
Anyway, found a 25920-4EA0C version which is 2015 / 2016 for £35 which doesn't seem bad considering people have 2013 cards listed for more than that. I should get a reasonable chunk of that back as well!
It is a bit worrying that 25920-4EA0C is 2015 / 2016 and 25920-4EA0B is 2013 while 25920-1KA0A is 2012.
Version 25920-4EA0C appears to changed NAVTEQ to its new name HERE as well.
Thanks a lot _________________ TomTom Go 540 - V9.058, Map GB & Ireland 860.3101

You need to do a bit more research as Black Rojer claims
4EAOB and 4EAOC are the same maps but with different labels.
Don't know if that is true.
Yes HERE is the map company now and Connect2 cards seem to be a lot cheaper than the LCN1 I use. |

I am confused again
My car has a connect 2 fitted with the card in the top right corner. I always new it was a connect 2 but the card that is it is a 25920 4EA0C which blackrojer says is used in the LCN 2 version.
So he says I need a KE288-LCNKE15 or 25920 4KJ0A which may be a 2016 / 2017 version.
But I am reluctant to pay the £79.99 asking price on ebay for that in case it isn't the right one.

Might I suggest that you have a look on www.nissan.navigation.com where you will find the system in your Note illustrated plus a list of suitable cards.
You could then contact Nissan Customer Services and tell them the code of your card and ask them to confirm the code of the latest card available.
You might find you already have the latest version. |

That is odd as well. The unit in my car is externally a connect 2,the card is on the top right with no cover over the slot where it goes but the card that is in it is the version 3 one (the LCN2).
Maybe they fitted upgraded internals but retained the housing for the note?
I am in the note owners forum, I will go there.
Thanks - I think this could run for a while yet _________________ TomTom Go 540 - V9.058, Map GB & Ireland 860.3101

I got a version 25920 4KJ0A card which is supposed to be the upgrade from 25920 4EA0C.
This did a firmware upgrade which was a bit scary but completed OK and didnt seem to make any difference to how it worked. The car hasnt driven itself away in the middle of the night(!) so it hasnt been hacked yet!
Havent driven over any roads which have been changed recently so I dont know whether this really is an upgrade.
It does seem odd that my Note which definitely has the "second version" of the Connect (card goes in top right, no cover) is described as Connect 2 yet uses the later version card. Blackroger an eBay seems a little confused (as am I!) - his table on his eBay listings says that the Note from 2014 uses the "Nissan Connect 2TM (second version)" and this is the correct picture for the SatNav in my car but the card is for "Nissan Connect LCN2 (third version)".
The linked website (http://www.fpro.aaanet.ru/connect/map-vers.htm) does have the Note from 2015 using the Nissan Connect LCN2 (third version) in its table with the entries ticked but the linked picture is wrong.

Think you need to speak to a Nissan dealer or contact Nissan Customer Services as your Connect setup seems rather confusing, as you say. |

I can confirm 25920-4EA0C has same 2013 map content as 25920-4EA0B; there's a YouTube video showing someone interrogate the cards in a Connect Unit.
For my QQ I have latest SD card 2015-6, but appalled to find locally it still
shows an ESSO garage that closed over 10 years back
I have moaned to map makers "HERE" on this & await response; the ESSO garage does not show on HERE's online map which they referred me to.
This is latest one:
