Hi all in the forum.
Looking for some help with this please. I have an account until May 2016, and have just changed phones from a Samsung S4 to a Sony Z5. On the Samsung I can still connect it to my home Wi-Fi (no longer active phone account) and camera alert starts, gives the update database message and I can update it. So no issues there. With the new Sony Z5 it worked fine for a few weeks, but now when I try and start the app, it starts, gives me the update database message, then warns me that camera alert has stopped working. choice then is to shut it down or report it with the log., which I have done. What I have tried.:
Cleared Data
Cleared Cache
Uninstalled and re installed
Same problem.
All other apps I have are working normally.
The next help item was to do a factory reset, which I am reluctant to do yet. Any other help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I had a similar issue with my S4 when I first got it. I had to open the app and minimise it, then open it again to prevent this message. It is a well documented problem that hasn't been fixed (as far as I know) as no new app has been released for a while.

Hi Mark
Thanks for the reply. I hope I am not being unduly thick here, but it is the Sony that has troubles not the Samsung. When the message comes on the screen that the app has stopped working, I cannot do anything else with the phone unless I choose "cancel" and it turns off the app, or "report it" and it takes me to a reporting page then shuts the app down. I do not know how to minimize the app when the message comes on the screen.

I know it's the Sony, but the same workaround may work as I think it is a memory (RAM) thing. You need to minimise it as soon as you open it to prevent the crash, then re- open it. I got fed up in the end and ditched the map view. _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

Hi Mark
Thanks for helping, thought you had it cracked. I minimized as it opened and the message did not appear, exactly as you said. But unfortunately when I re opened it, the message came back and crashed. What is the latest version of camera alert, I have version 1.4.0.876 downloaded from the play store. If I can't get this to work then there is no point in renewing the subscription. The car now has a sat nav built in and I cannot integrate pocket gps with the car, so use the phone. I have to say that the alternative TT trial works perfectly but the app is not as good as pocket gps. would love to solve this.
Thanks again

Just to add to this, I have an S5 and, recently, when trying to open Camera Alert I've received messages to say it has stopped working. The app offered me a chance to report it using the report facility which pops up. Unfortunately, I received a response from PocketGPS - "Unfortunately, this email address is an unmonitored mailbox which is unable to receive replies. We're happy to help you with any support questions or concerns you may have....."
Whilst I can accept the many combinations which may result in the app crashing, I would have thought the support email would be monitored. |

All worked fine on Android 5 but app will not even open after upgrading to Android 6. |
