Hi.
At the end of this month I take delivery of my new Honda. It is the EX model. All it says is the installed infotainment system is Garmin. I used to subscribe to the database but when I bought a KIA Sportage (never again!) it didn't support upload-able POI's. When I did subscribe I had a Nissan and it was very easy to upload the database. My simple question is;
Does anyone know if I will be able to upload the database to my new Honda HRV?
Thanks in advance. |

I started a thread here a while ago about the Honda Connect system.
Honda have it locked down tighter than a duck's so the answer is no.
I just hope you get on OK with it as we have loads of adverse reports over on the Civic forum. Even though it's Android (ancient ICS though) there is currently only one app available from the Honda app store and that's the Aha one.
On the bright side though you do get 5 free map updates. _________________ DashCam:

Ah . So I'm screwed then! Kinda hoped being Garmin it might've worked.
Thanks for the reply Kremmen |

Under normal circumstances I would have p/x'd my 2013 Civic for a 2016 one this month.
Because of the numerous adverse reports about this head unit I've had a MOT done instead. First MOT I've had since the 1980's. _________________ DashCam:

Make sure they have applied all the latest updates as some of the early teething problems have been solved apparently.
There is also rumoured to be another major update in April so keep in touch with the dealer if you have any issues.
Main issues at the moment seem to be random rebooting. The reboot can take up to 5 minutes to complete. During that time you have no navigation and no radio. The other main complaint is the, again random, disconnection of newer Android phones. It seems iPhones are mainly OK but recent Android phones have a habit of disconnecting at random, assuming the pairing process worked as expected.
The HondaHandsfree site used to be good at checking compatibility but the last time I looked that was out of date as it didn't include 2015 models.
Infrequent and rare issues reported are missing gridlines on the reversing camera overlay and the SatNav position icon not showing you on the road but in an adjacent field tracking the road. _________________ DashCam:

Not sure.
There have only been a couple of reports on Civinfo so not a major issue. Often this is due to a blocked GPS signal and the pseudo gyroscope taking over, badly, to keep the icon moving.
Also, to be fair, a lot of the complaints are around the Android headunit not performing like a tablet or phone. I don't why it should as it's a car SatNav, Radio unit, not a Google search and install .apk's like some seem to want to do. _________________ DashCam:
