For the best part of a year there were roadworks and specs from J15- 19 of the M1 whilst upgrade works were ongoing. I wondered why the specs were not being removed from the side of the motorway, and instead being turned through 90 degrees. Coming home on Friday, I found out why. From the M45 junction (Watford Gap services sort of area) Southbound, to J16, the roadworks are out again with the cameras in force until Spring 2017!!!!
Great co- ordination of roadworks schemes Highways Agency

Surely that's good coordination ... Better than working on both sides at the same time? _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Roadworks were in operation both ways for a year (forgot to mention it was both ways), maybe more for a 22 mile stretch of concrete barrier to be installed. Roadworks removed both ways for at most 3 months before another set of roadworks on both carriageways to upgrade to "smart" motorways. Surely both sets of works could have been incorporated? Especially given that for a good couple of months at a time there was no need for the excessive length of roadworks because it was complete!! They could have moved the closed carriageway from lane 3 to the hard shoulder easily to do the works. _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

Hah! Softypants Southerners have it easy. How would they have felt oop north where the cameras grew lichen they were on the M1 so long - Specs, variable Gatsos and now Hadecs. And we only had a cardboard box on the side of the street. _________________ Dennis

Spent enough of my time going through the Wetherby roadworks when they were in operation several years ago and when they upgraded the A1 from 2 to 3 lanes past Dishforth. Earned my "stripes" on those ones when I lived in Leeds _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |
