not a good idea, it blocks the most important image of the rear view mirror, probably against the law

So does that enable POI proximity alerts in order to run the PocketGPSWorld camera database?

There are no iPhone capatable versions on line at any of the makers only android. Sad

Only problem I have is in every RTA that has happened to me( driving instructor) it's always a rear shunt so forward faceing only has been a wast of time, and I always have rear and forward cameras, and the insurance company's have loved them, as they have seen we are always stopped and the morons have driven into the back of us, or a hit and run, has seen there number plate and police can see them and track them down( yes I was hit by a girl then she left the seen at grate speed and I passed my cam to them so they could see her face and reg)

It would be good if they had a version that had both front and back cameras and when revers engaged would also show as a reversing camera.

As you know most of the RTA's happen when reversing around shoping centers, and "every little helps" ( Laughing Out Loud sorry ) .

Also I have been told that car battery will not cover devices that run all night plugged in even when they have a voltage guard, on new cars. 😕

According to the website, the Image turns off whilst driving, therefore the mirror is still legal. However, at night, if one needs to use the 'mirror dipping' function to avoid rear headlight glare, I assume the camera will tilt also! Thus losing the correct forward view! I don't think it's practical to set the mirror to the dipping position and re-align the camera every time one drives at night.

How does it attach to your existing mirror?

See http://www.trustedreviews.com/rac-03-review

It needs constant power, so the thing I'd like to know is the current drain - how long will my car battery last when the car is parked at an airport and I'm away on a trip?

I think you'll find the law only requires you to have a good view from two mirrors - two door mirrors are fine. In any case, it doesn't block your view, it simply substitutes its own, wider mirror for the one built in to your car.

I suspect you'll find you lose the ability to 'dip' the mirror when you install this. In any case, I believe the 'dipping' or dimming function is internal to the mirror housing, in most cars, so wouldn't change the angle of the camera.
