Nottinghamshire County Council have responded to a petition by residents to implement a "core casualty reduction" mobile speed camera on Mansfield Road in Skegby.
Over 290 people locals signed the petition which called for traffic calming measures.
The petition organiser, Melanie Darrington: "It is really good news - residents have worked for several years towards this and it is a great example of a community working together."
She added: "This road is notorious for speeding and its horrific junctions and the speed cameras will be a deterrent. We are now campaigning for safer junctions in the area."
There are plans to erect warning signs and the mobile site is expected to be in use before the end of March 2016,.

Exactly how does a random mobile speed camera "calm traffic". Wishful thinking |

Several years to organise a single mobile speed camera site? Things must move slowly in Nottinghamshire.

Apparently there are plans to erect warning signs!
On a more serious note, IIRC, isn't a fair sized percentage of speeders that are caught found to live in the locality of where they were caught speeding? If that is the case then the residents should watch out as their several years of hard work may turn on them!

Regards, |
It probably takes thast long to arrange a mobile van, as they are so tied up trying to cram a SPECs set into every section of road in the county more than 200 Meters long without a junction. |
