Hi
I have just changed phone from iPhone to Android (Samsung S6), after undertaking a couple of journeys to Daventry and Norwich from home in Southend on Sea, I can see that my mobile data usage has shot up with some 240 - 250mb being seen for these two journeys.
I have disabled the auto zoom function and set a zoom level manually by pinching etc. This is not particularly granular, but I am concerned about the level of data used. Is it that the device is caching map data, as new, or can I expect to see this ongoing, as this is a real concern at this rate? I do have a 1Gb allowance but two journeys and 25% used!
The iPhone never used this much data :-(
Any advice or guidance gratefully received

I gave up using the map version on my Samsung phone as I found data usage high, I use it just in camera view mode now which uses no data, but can be difficult to identify upcoming cameras as arrows can point in all directions.
Google maps has just started allowing the local area to be held on your handset, not very helpful when out of the locality, and the map had to be re- downloaded regularly from what I can see.

I've just changed from a Windows phone to Android and have started using CamerAlert which I'm impressed with so far. My thoughts are, does it really matter where the precise location of the camera is? - if you get an alert then make sure you're driving at the legal speed.
I also intend using it not to show map because I've also just installed CoPilot which worked well on my Windows phone. The map is downloaded to phone so doesn't use any data during journey.
CoPilot is on offer at moment reduced from £19.99 to £15.99. |

That seems VERY high. Are you sure it's just CamerAlert using that data?!

Just to clarify, I'm pretty certain that Windows Boy Alix means "Google Navigation" and not the online file storage system "Google Drive" |
