Probably a silly question, but I assume that the .wav does play on a computer and isn't silent?

Strange!

If the filenames are identical so the front screen has 3 green panels then I'm baffled.

I like the app - particularly the removal of duplicates and the clarity of the warnings - but can't rely on it at present if it's missing cameras. The front screen does have 3 green panels.

I tried downloading both sets of cameras (CSV Converter and Camera Manager) to my Zumo at the same time and got 2 sets of warnings everywhere along my route apart from the M42, where I got only the CM ones. I then tried downloading the sets one at a time and using GPS simulator to travel along the same stretch of motorway; I got warnings from the CM database but not CSV Converter.

The problem seems to be with variable speed cameras only. They are generally mounted with cameras in both directions on the same gantry; I wonder whether duplicate remover is removing both sets?

When I get chance, I'll run the simulator on a variable speed stretch of the M25 and see if the same thing happens.[/img]

Could you see the cams on the CSV converted files and just got no audible warning?
If so, have you checked that the .wav file actually works?
As you suspect the 'adjacent' feature is removing both sets, set CSVC to allow adjacent cams and try again.

Ta M

The adjacent default setting is 70 yards, adjustable, and that only removes cameras from the same file. If there is a 40 camera right next to a 50 camera for example both will be retained. The end result is that any removed adjacent cameras will still produce a correct warning from the other one that is within 70 yards.

If you think you are missing cameras sounds then as MJT has said, check the WAV file for corruption. I know my version is OK as it has produced numerous warnings on the M25 western section that is also Gatso Variable.

If you have a camera number for testing I can run my file past it on a predefined route test and see what happens.

Also, a screendump of the main screen converter settings would be useful.

I've tried running both CM and CSVC files concurrently, with CSVC duplicate remover set on default 60 yds and also on 0 yds. The result is the same; both apps show and give warnings for fixed speed fixed cameras but CVSC neither shows nor gives warnings for variable speed fixed cameras.

I ran the test using the GPS simulator on the following cameras:

A43 Truvelo:5460@70 - OK on CM and CSVC.
M40/42 Gatso:65500@variable - icon/warning CM only.
M25 Gatso:53246@variable - icon/warning CM only.

All CSVC panels show green, the .wav and .bmp files are fine and the .csv file is populated. I've taken a screen capture of my settings but am not sure how to post it on here.

Thanks

I'll run it tomorrow and see what it does with those cameras.

I do my screenshots via photobucket

I'm going to home in on the one by the M25 by the Colnbrook bypass as that is close to me so won't be too difficult to reproduce that routing.
That camera has no duplicate so the adjacent removal is a red herring.

Q: Are you running more than one .gpi file or testing them separately?

Just realised I'd set the duplicate remover to 0 yds but I hadn't checked the box to allow duplicates - I assume both achieve the same end, as the number of cameras was the same. Anyway, just ran it again with the box checked and it made no difference.

No it won't because the M25 camera has no duplicate.

As above, I think duplicate removal is a red herring.

So, you are seeing no icon and no voice warning? If so that would mean the camera is being removed during the conversion. If just no voice warning but there is an icon then the voice wav has an issue.

I've just tried reinstalling the app to see if that made any difference. Also, I was using the PGPSW .bmp and .wav files so tried the ones from the CSVC zip file instead. The only difference was that the 44x44 icons don't show on my Zumo, which I think is a Garmin limitation (max size 22x22?).

To confirm, for the variable speed fixed cameras there is no voice warning and no icon.

OK

If you know your way around a PC load the gatso_var.gpx into notepad.

Use CTRL+F and perform a search for 53246.

If it's not there do the same with the donor CSV file. You will need to redownload the csv as the conversion removes them.

Found it, corrupt variable.

Sorted, made more robust.

New program (tested and OK). New download includes picture files for 22x22, 24x24 and 44x44.

Thanks to you for spotting an 'uninitialized variable'

Look out for the full picture sets as well.
