|
|
When I'm out and about, I find the PGPSW dedicated POI mobile site very useful for finding and navigating to POIs, especially as 3G/4G data coverage is getting better.
However, you do need to select the category and then the sub-category to list the POIs that you want. I.e. if you want to list the IKEA stores nearest to your current location or another location you need to select a category of "Shopping - Other" then the sub-category of "IKEA". Some other sub-categories are not so easy to find. Is it possible for a search facility to be added to make it easier to search by either sub-category or actual POI?
Also once you've selected the POI to navigate to, you're offered to navigate to the POI via a number of applications. I have two TomTom APPs (UK & Ireland, and Europe). Is it possible to be able to select which TomTom app to use?
If it's any help, the following URL Schemes work (iPhone running iOS 9):
com.tomtom.Europe://
com.tomtom.UK-Ireland://
Do we still have a "Techno Thursday" where this could be looked at?
To sum up, Could we please have:
1. Search facility to find either sub-category or actual POI?
2. If you have multiple TomTom apps on your device to be able to select the TomTom to use for navigating?

Do you have the rest of the format for the lat/lon?
The current one in use is: tomtomhome:geo:action=navigateto&lat=[lat]&long=[lon]&name=[name info]
The ones you mention will open the app, but I need a way to send the co-ordinates and the name to the app.
As a guess, can you try click this on your phone:
com.tomtom.UK-Ireland://?action=navigateto&lat=53.79073&long=-1.75909&name=test
(you might need to copy and paste it into safari) - should go to Morley Street in Bradford.
Another way would be to use the app to 'share a location' via email and see what URL it sends you.

Hi MaFt,
Many thanks for looking into this.
MaFt wrote: | com.tomtom.UK-Ireland://?action=navigateto&lat=53.79073&long=-1.75909&name=test |
The above didn't work. It did launch TomTom UK & Ireland but it didn't navigate to Morley Street in Bradford
However with a little tweak, the following semi work (but only if you already have a route planned:
Code: | com.tomtom.UK-Ireland://geo:action=navigateto&lat=53.79073&long=-1.75909&name=test
com.tomtom.Europe://geo:action=navigateto&lat=48.86870&long=2.78181&name=Disneyland%20Paris |
Warning
1. When there is already a route planned (even to different location) and application is shut down, the link will start application and will navigate to co-ordinates.
2. When route is cleared and application is shut down, the link will start application but goes to the TomTom main menu - you must press the blue navigation arrow (top right) and navigation takes place. If you instead try to navigate to a Recent Destination then you are actually routed to the location of the link!
NB I think that is is already the case with the dedicated POI mobile site so it may not be such an issue. I normally have a route in the SatNav so for me it's not a problem.
3. I don't know if I've got the (%20) spaces coded correctly.
The "com.tomtom.UK-Ireland:" and "com.tomtom.Europe:" appear to work.
Is it possible for the dedicated mobile site to workout whether you have any TomTom apps and if so, for it to list the ones that you have so that you can use them or is it unable to interrogate the iOS?

Yes - I *think* this is the case already.

Yup - %20 is a space

Sadly not - only native apps can detect (in a dodgy workaround way like we do with CamerAlert) which other apps are installed and only if they have their own custom url scheme

Hi MaFt,
Are you able to (pretty please):
1. Add the ability to Launch a specific TomTom app (such as UK & Ireland or Europe, etc)?
2. Add a search facility to find either sub-category or actual POI?

Hi MaFt,
Bump!
Would you please:
1. Add the ability to Launch a specific TomTom app (such as UK & Ireland or Europe, etc)? Unfortunately the new TomTom GO Mobile app for iOS doesn't currently have a URL Scheme so you probably wont be able to add that app.
2. Add a search facility to find either sub-category or actual POI?

Hi MaFt,
After over three years of waiting, TomTom has finally added URL Scheme support to TomTom GO Navigation iOS version 2.1.
The announcement was made today, in their forum here:
https://discussions.tomtom.com/en/discussion/1118783/url-schemes-for-go-navigation-ios/p1?new=1
Now, the URL will definitely launch TomTom GO iOS with a destination (as long as you have the relevant map for the destination loaded), but I don’t know whether you can add the name of the POI so that it appears in the “Recent Destinations” as it did in the old legacy TomTom app.
Apparently TomTom GO Navigation implements the x-callback-url protocol, which allows iOS and macOS developers to expose and document API methods they make available to other apps and return useful data.
Do you know if you can also send the name of the destination to TomTom via the x-callback-url protocol so that it appears in the “Recent Destinations”? If you do, could you let me know how it’s done and also post a reply in the above thread?
When you have time, will you please look about adding URL Scheme support of TomTom GO Navigation iOS to the PGPSW dedicated POI mobile site?
