TomTom APP 1.21.2 for iOS now supports 3rd party POIs

Yesterday (Wednesday 16th November 2015) the latest version of the TomTom app was released by Apple and the great news is that it partially supports third party POIs

What's available
You can add the .bmp (icons) and .ov2 (POI data) to the app so that:
1. Icons appear on the map
2. You can navigate to a POI

What's NOT available
1. You can not set proximity alerts within the app.
2. You cannot edit/add/delete individual POIs or POI categories within the app

How to overcome what's not available
1. You may be able to use another mapsettings.cfg file, see here.
2. Use an external POI program to edit POIs and then copy to iOS device.

Now you know what you can and can't do, here's how you do it.

iTunes
Connect your iOS device to your computer
Click on the Apps Settings
In File Sharing, click on your TomTom app (UK & Ireland, Europe, etc)
Click on the Add File button to copy your POIs to your app

NB This will copy files to the \Documents folder.

iMazing
Connect your iOS device to your computer
Click on the Apps button
Click on your TomTom app (UK & Ireland, Europe, etc)
Place the POI files in the \Documents\poi folder

Thanks for this. I have always preferred the safety camera data base added to my iPhone TomTom POI folder, rather than using CameraAlert, as the camera locations actually appear on the TomTom map. It's good to have that functionality back again.

I agree that it's good to have the camera locations appear on the TomTom map. I'm "belt & braces" when it comes to cameras, I like to have CamerAlert running in the background to audibly notify me of approaching cameras and camera locations on the TomTom map to visually confirm the actual location!

Although CamerAlert is up-to-date I was until a few days ago running an eight month old set of locations on the TomTom map (as I was unable to update them on the TomTom maps) and the discrepancy is amazing (new locations and speed changes) - which goes to show how important it is to regularly update the PGPSW database on your SatNav.

I'm also now able to update my "Friends and Family", "Business", and "holiday" sets of POI categories.
