Not the most politically thought through comment from an elected commissioner that I've heard!
Pretty well summed up in the piece by...
<Hugh Bladon, from voluntary lobby group group the Alliance of British Drivers, criticised the idea of making money from speed cameras.
"These cameras are alleged to make roads safer, they are not to make money for the police or government or anyone and to suggest that it is... I'm lost for words," he said.

Although I have doubts about the sanity of many of these highly paid Police Commissioners I believe he has floated this idea to highlight and publicise on a national basis the resource issue his force is facing. In that respect it has worked. |
