|

A few days ago, TomTom released v1.21 APP for iOS but it still doesn't support third party POIs.
I still prefer TomTom to other SatNav apps but the lack of third party POI support is annoying, especially when I have over 10 years worth of my own POIs that I wish to use on the app, let alone ones from PocketGPSWorld!
The only salvation that I have found is the iOS app POIViewer, which allows me to navigate to a POI (by launching the SatNav app) but unfortunately doesn't show the POIs on the TomTom map. However, POIViewer can use other SatNav apps as well as TomTom!

I noticed this morning that there is an update for TomTom version 1.21.1 iOS app. However after I downloaded TomTom UK & Ireland version 1.21.1 I have found that the latest iOS app still doesn't support third party POIs. _________________ Robert.

Yes, TomTom was making a lot of noise that third party POI support would be available this release. The following is taken from TomTom's own forum:
TomTom source wrote: | We are very sorry that file sharing has not been successfully enabled in the V1.21.1 release. This is a complete surprise to us here at TomTom as the feature was tested and verified before release. We are investigating what went wrong and will provide another application update to solve the issue as soon as we can.
We have investigated and found a problem in the build configuration for the “distribution build" of the app. This means that the feature worked fine in testing but not in the version we sent to the App Store.
We are now working on releasing a fix as soon as possible, and will let you know when this new version has been sent for review. |

Yes/no/possibly
From the app no.
You used to be able to use the mapsettings.cfg file from a TomTom PND that already had the alerts set up. I don't know if that still works, as the only proximity alerts that I use are for speed cameras and I use CamerAlert for that. If you have iMazing you may be able to access the mapsettings.cfg file on the app.
