Sorry, I'm not using Win10 myself so can't really help with that but I used to get round the same problem with my OS not recognising the device by using a Memory Card. Does your XXL IQ have a memory card slot? if *yes* are you already using it and does it already contain the Maps?
If so, pop the card out and load the database that way.
However, a Win10 Guru may be along soon to inform how to do it properly. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

If you've upgraded to Win10 then there is a possibility that it hasn't updated some drivers to the Win10 compatible ones.
See if IOBit Driver Booster 3 is compatible with Win10 and run that to see what it finds.
The program itself is fine, I use it on Win7, but watch the usual crapware tick boxes and untick them during the install so you don't get the rubbish they like to bundle in. _________________ DashCam:

Have now managed to get the TT recognised in explorer by assigning a drive letter to it so can update the camera database BUT it is still not seen by TT Home.
It appears as a drive in the Device Manager but not in the Network Adapters part of device manager as apparently demanded by TT Home.
Any suggestions please! |

If you've updated all your drivers then uninstall and reinstall TTHome. My guess is that it may have missed a connection last time. _________________ DashCam:

sorry to say, tried that.
I think the problem lies in the fact that my TT is not seen in the Network adapters section of the Device Manager. It is seen in the disk drives section though.
I dont know how to get it there! |

I am no PC whizz, expert etc
But
I have Windows 10 Pro, upgraded from 8.1 Pro
Tom Tom XXL IQ Classic, a couple of years old
And both work and interact fine, including Home
So persevere
I would also suggest a driver or two needs updating ? |

Devices have 2 ways of being recognised, either as a 'device', like a printer, or as a storage medium that gets a drive letter.
In this occasion the PC thinks the TT is a storage device which is presumably fooling the TT app so it's not being recognised.
Something has become corrupt but finding it is another matter. Almost impossible remotely.
I know this is a Garmin post but I wonder if the same applies?
