I updated to iOS9 last night and now when I open CamerAlert the app doesn't fill the whole screen anymore on my iPhone 6 Plus. I can only liken it to lowering the screen resolution on a PC. The image within the available window is also larger so not as much detail is available.
I assume that nothing can be done about this and it's the beginning of the end.

Sadly a change in one of the api's has caused this. We have a major issue we're trying to overcome with Apple's reluctance to approve updates to this app.
At the moment we're working hard on a major re-write incorporating a number of major changes in the hope they will allow us to continue but it's worse than banging your head against a brick wall, more so when other apps such as Trapster and TomTom's speed camera app seem to be allowed to continue without issue _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for your reply Darren, I knew you were having issues with Apple. I wish you luck in getting the new version approved. _________________ Mike

It's maddening, frustrating and infuriating in equal measure. We've so many great things we want to bring to the app but currently we're in the situation where we're worried if we make too much fuss they'll simply pull the app completely. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Do you have the same problem with the Android version. If not, how about releasing all the new and exciting things there so us poor man's Android people can benefit? |

In an ideal world we would. But a lack of developer resource is the limiting factor here. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks Darren beat me to it.
I can live with it Dennis it really only limits the amount of cameras in the list and obviously if you use the map that is smaller too. As I have a 6 plus it's still big enough for me to see. It just concerned me that unless Apple allowed an update from the team then things would gradually get worse. _________________ Mike

Should I have checked here before I installed iOS 9 this evening but can live with a loss of border, only really want it for audio alerts.
Been using it on iPhone 6 for last couple of days as forced to upgrade my Go Live 1000 since losing it at the weekend and using this with Go 6100 which I'm impressed with bar included camera database.
CamerAlert is a really cool app and having alerts coming through hands-free in car gives me best of both worlds (TT traffic/routing plus PGPSW cameras) - only downside is phone probably needs to be on charge in car.
Hopefully Apple will lift the restrictions so you can implement your wish list and improve further. |

Thanks for the screenshot Darren. Mine is also a 6 Plus so it'll do.
Brucey I think you'll find it's wise to plug your iPhone into power in the car - GPS, Bluetooth etc can gobble battery. I have mine on power every trip as I'm sure it won't last the day - you don't want a flat phone whilst you're out and about. _________________ Dennis

|
|
Currently I use tomtom on ipad mini for navigation and CamerAlert for speed cameras on my iphone sitting below.
I notice that the 'split view' function in ios9 on a new ipad mini 4 allows two apps to work on the same screen next to each other.
That would be great for me as I could get a new ipad mini 4 and use it to show tomtom and Cameralert at the same time alongside each other on one screen.
Or could I? I envisage that perhaps 'split view' only works with apps re-designed for it and/or apps that allow it. Does anyone know if CamerAlert will work as one app on a split view please?
Cheers |

Why not give it a try? You can simply uninstall it if it doesn't work. _________________ Dennis

Hi Dennis
split view is part of ios9 that specifically only works on very latest model ipads, so ipad mini 4, ipad pro and perhaps ipad air 2. I haven't got any of these yet but might buy a new ipad mini 4 particularly if it allows split view with CamerAlert.

Now that you have resolved the issue with Apple, when will the major rewrite come and will you overcome the issue regarding the reduced screen size under IOS9? |
