Can I install third party POIs on a Tomtom Go 6100 ?
My TT Go 1005 is approaching the end of it's life and I wish to replace it with a TT Go 6100.
However I have read on here many threads about the inability to install PGPS Speed Camera Warnings and home made POI's onto current Tomtom SatNav models.
Question: ?
Has this changed (and I missed it) as reading Tomtom Go 6100 blurb today at http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13814/~/how-can-i-install-or-remove-third-party-pois%3F dated 06.07.2015 it appears that it can be done just like my 1005.
Can anyone please confirm that I can install PGPS Speed Camera Warnings and home made POI's on to a TT 6100.
T.I.A.

Apparently you can navigate to a Custom POI, but there are no icons or sounds. So you have no warnings.
See Here for one comment.
Also I believe you cannot edit/change a POI on the Device. _________________ Richard

Hi Richard
Thanks for your reply.
So it looks like Tomtom are only telling half the story in their blurb.
To me it reads like the new TT's are configurable like their legacy products.

Thanks again

Similar situation to original poster, just replaced a GL 1000 which I've somehow lost between car and house with a Go 61000 though the battery was on its way out so I was looking at my options anyhow.
Primary concern for me was routing, live traffic and cameras in that order, when I visit a customer I'm usually onsite all day so my requirements would be very different to lots of other Sat Nav drivers.
Obviously cameras isn't really possible usefully with alerts but that's where CamerAlert comes in and as an existing subscriber (from GL 1000) then I can use this subscription on my iPhone 6.
Interface is a bit flaky on 6100 rather like when the 1000 came out but I suspect it will improve in time though I'm not expecting TT to allow custom POI alert functionality at any point. Routing and traffic is excellent though.
Unless Apple obstruct use of CamerAlert app then I'm happy with these as a good combination for my needs. |
