garmin device not found

Trying to update my dads cycling Garmin and it isn't being found by Garmin when doing so its not the cable as this works for other devices. Any one any ideas getting nowhere with Garmin support just round and round in circles

Don't be too sure about the cable, try using the one supplied with the Edge.

Garmin support aren't that clever on occasions. A few years ago I had an issue that they couldn't solve.

Turned out that if they had got me to change the device mode from MTP to normal all could have been sorted in a trice. As it was they couldn't understand why I couldn't see the map files even though I had Windows set to show everything.

Well, I spent 1.5 hrs on the phone with Garmin support the other day. I gave access to connect to my laptop remotely, they tried everything to find the cause, but couldn't solve the problem...
