Hi all

Just retro fitted Garmin GVN60 to my VW Polos composite media system. Working all very good but would like to add speed cameras to it and was wondering if anyone knew if its compatible with the pocket gpsworld data base before I renew my subscription.

This is the unit page

Yes, I formatted an SD card and downloaded database. Unzipped it to SD card and it worked. Haven't been able to get the custom pocket gps sounds to work though but it does give you a series of beeps on approach. Would like to know if I'm able to change the sounds?

Well done !
Is your SD card slot in the passenger side glovebox ?

I tried to do all that but it didn't work for me. I assume my SD card is formatted because when I plug the card reader into my PC it recognises the POI file that I transferred to it.

Which site did you download the database from ?

What ws the database called ?

What happened on the screen of the Kenwood unit when you put the SD card in - did it react straight away ?

Thanks for your help in this

M.

Scoop,
I had my unit moved from behind the dashboard to somewhere a bit more accessible. Now it works because I've found the SD card slot. (It was fitted by VW not me !)

Have you managed to get any voice prompts yet? I also get the beeps and a red banner across the top of the screen.

It is also not nade clear that the SD card needs to stay in the unit - it does in mine anyway. The POI do not load into the Garmin.

cheers

M

Do you use POI Loader to 'convert' the files for the Garmin. If so, there's some hope of getting the voices to work. Not sure how much hope though.

I did use POI Loader to get the files.

Which database do you use - UK Gatso, Mobile etc or UK speed zone complete ?

Of the voice packs one seems to load but the other states that it has not loaded.

Watch this space !

POILoader requires all the files to have the same name.

I would use the speed zoned set so for example, just using one set:

Gatso40.csv
Gatso40.bmp
Gatso40.wav

Depending on what your unit accepts you may have to use Gatso40.mp3, but unlikely.

You will need to download the SOX.EXE file. There are quite a few posts in the Garmin subsection about how to get and use SOX.
