Simkna,
I have been using v1.3 for the last few days...
It seems that the sound notifications only work if you do not change the default notification time (ie. leave as 30sec for the first warning).
I had the same problem until I figured this out.
Cheers,
Paul

CheckPOInt 1.3 rocks!!!
Until version 1.2 I had some problems as well, but this new version is supercool.
And it's free...
I'd say it's time for an "official" review by PocketGPS! |

I'm installing it as we type! Rest assured that as soon as we can confirm it is stable we will review it. _________________ Darren Griffin |

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!
Most useful piece of freeware so far. I have tested GPSAssist on free trial but didn't like it much, over complicated, over-sized and didn't like the pseudo Outlook integration anyway. I never tried POI-Warner as I wasn't prepared to pay upfront just to check it out.
CheckPOInt 1.3 finally works on my 3970 without hitch.
I've tested all the features, I've been out in my car today and using the POCKETGPS SC DB it works perfectly. Assigning button 4 to record POI adds new cameras (or pretend one's for the purpose of the test) without problem.
I'm so impressed with it's simplicity. This is what I wanted from day one - an easy to use POI detector which uses a tiny amount of memory (about 70k!)
One word of advise for users, remember to set up detection settings for both POCKETGPSDB and CHECHPOINTS own OV2 DB otherwise it doesn't detect the new cameras you add. Pretty simmple really but worth noting.
Let's hope this freeware generates more far users and therefore far more "camera spotters" |

PS Try this web site for creating speech audio wav files which you can set a warning tones in CheckPOInt, works pretty well.

Another vote for Brilliant!!!!!
A very nice application that does exactly what is says on the tin, simply and effectively. I particularly liked the proximity indicator.
If there was anything I would change it would be some form of feedback or acknowledgement when I recorded a new POI and something that lets me know it is running when I am in Navigator. Other than those minor observations it is perfect.
In my book it certainly beats GPSassist for simplicity, user interface and it's free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've tried it but have gone back to POI Warner, the user interface is nice and clean, but the warning system; graphics and repeating final warning give POI Warner the edge. The only excpetion would be if the $ issue is really the key element in your decision. _________________ Garry Platt |

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I have both the CP and camera OV2 files selected in TTNav. In CP I have told it to use both OV2 files for warnings. I have set it to give a first warning at 20 seconds, and have selected a wav file. It refuses to give any warning of cameras - either those that were present before CP, or those I have added to the OV2 file using CP. What do I have to do to get this piece of software to holler at me when I get near to a camera (they show up fine as icons on the TTNav screen).

Simkna,
Did you check the 'detect' checkbox on the first page of the propertysheet of each OV2 file? If you don't check that, CP won't detect POI's from the overlay...
Thanx for the 1.4 notification, Duncan. I actually saw some release notes on the download page! At least the 'show work address' option is new; didn't see that in 1.3. |

Yes, the 'detect' box is ticked. Still won't work though.

Hi All,
There is new software for Checkpoint - version 1.3.
The Author said he found some nasty little bugs which he has fixed. Functionality seems to be great with NO! crashes like the previous versions, yet i have not yet tested it on the raod. I am using my iPaq 3970.
Cheers,
Clinton |

How do you allocate the speedcamera bitmap to the new POIs found? |

I am now using CheckPOInt 1.7 and it seems to work fine on ipaq 3850 - the author has obviously sorted out the problems, good add on for TTN as it is free! |

Although the link still says 1.7.2, the site now claims you can download version 1.8 (go there to see what I mean!). _________________ What's going on? Where am I? |
