|
|
I can't for the life of me see how to do a complete back-up of my 2699. I want to delete things from it and so to personalise it but if I decide to sell in the future, would need to reinstall everything.
Can someone point me in the right direction. |

Simply copy all the files to your PC, I do that whenever I buy a new satnav/gps so I have all the initially installed files.
Now ... having said that for the latest nuvis it's not easy! First, you need to set your nuvi to mass storage mode. To do that:
1. Start NUVI by itself and go to Volume Screen.
2. Press the upper right hand corner of screen for 10 seconds.
3. The Developers Screen will pop up
(may see Configuration and Settings, if so select it)
4. Scroll down to MTP SETTINGS
5. Change from AUTO DETECT to MASS STORAGE
6. Shut down NUVI and connect to PC
7. It should now connect in mass storage mode.
As an alternative to step 1 and 2 above, you can bring up the Nuvi's "trip information" screen by tapping the speed icon, then press and hold the speedometer for about 10 seconds to access the developer screen. Now go from step 3.
Now set your Windows system to show hidden AND system files.
If you've done that all correctly you'll see the hidden .system folder that contains maps etc and can then back up the complete lot of folders/files. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Absolutely and syncing with my iPad and iPhone was another factor. Going to wait for the release of Windows 10 at the end of the month and feedback on that before I decide to return to a PC. |

You went from a PC to an apple. Where's that ROLFL animated emoticon that DennisN uses when you want it?
You really got conned into buying Apple, didn't you? |
