A driver has been jailed after causing life-threatening injuries to Joab Froggatt, 22 following a head-on collision on January 4 on the A4042 in Abergavenny, Wales.
Following his reckless action of fiddling with a satnav whilst travelling between 25mph and 30mph in the wrong lane, Andrei Trip, 25 was imprisoned for 16 months for dangerous driving.
Cardiff Crown Court heard that Trip first told police that he had been fiddling with his satnav, but he later changed his story to him dropping his phone.
Emphasising the seriousness of the accident, Mr Froggatt's court statement said: "As a result of the crash, I have lost my appetite and I am unable to use the toilet on my own. I am having flashbacks about the accident which is terrifying and I keep seeing cars coming towards me. I have lost days to losing my memory and I am worried about losing my job. I nearly died on the night of the accident so I am aware it will be a long road to recovery."
Whilst sentencing Trip, Judge Christopher Vosper QC said: "You lacked genuine remorse and appeared more concerned about how the offence has impacted you and people close to you rather than the innocent driver of the other car. You expressed disregard for driving laws if they interfered with your personal circumstances or gain."
Trip, a Romanian national, was driving uninsured and without a UK driving licence, was given a 16 month sentence and disqualified from holding a driving licence for two years.

I have the feelings that car infotainment systems are going to course just the same problems if they allow you to program them etc while on the move. |

Exactly. Over on the car forum they are complaining that they can't watch a video on the Android head unit like they can on an Android tablet.
The number of drivers I see on a mobile texting away, eyes looking into the footwell. _________________ DashCam:

No insurance, no UK driving licence, probably poor command of English. The guy should not have been on the road. _________________ Dennis

I think your last quality statement is a bit stereotypical. You know it's against all sorts of rules and PC stuff these days Dennis. |

Y'mean it's OK to drive when you can't read road signs? Maybe he didn't have a licence or insurance because he couldn't read about having them? Or maybe because he couldn't read and write the language on the forms?
I am VERY stereo with stuff like driving. It could have been me he hit. _________________ Dennis

A lot of 'them' don't care about the laws of the land. They obtain a car and just drive it. _________________ DashCam:
