Just noticed on the A40 between RAF Northolt & the Westway a whole load of new cameras the type i've not seen before, they could be variable speed ones.

There's already another thread about this. Photos won't focus on my tablet so not sure what to make of them. _________________ DashCam:

So badly out of focus that it's hard to tell. |

I have been told this week by a regular commercial driver that these are a new type of camera systm being installed by TfL and they go live on Sept 1.
Checking on the Tfl website I found this
https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/safety-and-security/road-safety/safety-enforcement-cameras
Apparently they are being installed from the Paddington slip to the Polish War Memorial which is somewhat ironic considering how often people get stuck for ages coming off the flyover and crawling beyong Hanger Lane.
Hope this helps

There are already speed cameras along the western avenue from the Polish.
These new cameras are akin to ANPR and are watching for non registered low emmision zone (LEZ) vehicles driving into London down the A40.
I assume that the M4 into London is already covered from J3 (Hayes/Hounslow) as there are enough warning signs. _________________ DashCam:

If these Vector cameras have been known about for such a long time, howcome the Cameralert DB doesn't contain them? |

Could it be that they are not actually live yet? |

WARNING .......
I've just contacted a friend at TfL and these new cameras are indeed average speed cameras. They are due to go live next month (September 2015)
The LEZ info was put out as a red herring for some reason better known to them.
What I'll do next month, or is it too early now, is get a route 95 bus and sit up front with Cameralert running on the mobile. I won't trap all of them as it only starts at the Greenford roundabout and turns off at White City but that should trap quite a few. _________________ DashCam:

Been out and had a look.
The Average cameras as these:
I suspect the LEZ traps are these:
I also spotted this little animal facing oncoming traffic, haven't a clue:
I have got a rough log of the average cameras on the eastbound direction going into London but I'm not convinced I've got them all 'pinpointed'.
Not sure where to go from here as they aren't apparently going live till next month. Do I submit my rough locations now or wait? _________________ DashCam:

Well done that man and thank you. Exactly how many accidents are there on the A40?? Cameras are not there to make money . . .

I would say that the last picture looks very like a blue traffic master sensor. |
