New camera files and a map update all loaded. I have noticed that I only get one chime per camera now, so on the stretch of A1 by me, only 3 alerts instead of the previous 6. Just need to work out the warning distances now and i'll have cracked it .

I've done the map and I did the cameras this morning. I've just set the approach ones but I won't be testing them till next Wednesday on my Slough run (joy of being retired)
I've got my approach set to 14 seconds. I found that much more and I often got cameras not on my line of route. I had my overspeed set to 6 seconds. _________________ DashCam:

Mine reported a 9 minute delay for a jam I had just gone through, but at least it reported it . What I do struggle with are road closures that have been closed for months not showing up. Roads such as this: http://bit.ly/1cQqZIX and this http://bit.ly/1cQr8Mi .
I know I can keep the traffic pane open, bit it does take up a large amount of screen space in comparison to the small traffic bar on a TT. I like the way it pops up when traffic is reported and disappears once passed.
It did however pick up a closed road on the way to Manningtree today, so I know it can work.

I travel mostly in Wales, and TT doesn't have road closure and roadworks details for Wales unlike England. The Garmin does. So I get the opposite effect!
I guess neither are perfect, and sometimes when either misses something, I wish I was using the other, and then switch the next day
Either way, both offer considerably improved traffic reporting than even just 18 months back _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

I am not sure how to achieve this, I have a road near my home which has been one way for over 4 years but the maps still list it as 2 way. I put an avoid on it but cannot see how to make it only closed outbound. I know that TT had the ability very finely to do such things, but not the 2599??
Thanks |

I think that is on a per trip basis John. There is no Mapshare easy road editing available, it all has to be done online and wait for someone to look at it.

You can set a permanent custom avoidance. To avoid a road one way only make sure the start is at the beginning of the road in the direction of the way you don't want to travel.
You should find custom avoidances under Settings, Navigation, Custom Avoidances. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Test complete.
I just had the approach set loaded and worked as expected. Just a single warning of a camera.
No additional warning(s) if you are still overspeed but with a short approach time I can live with that. _________________ DashCam:

I'm going to try my unit in Spain next month, should be good . I still haven't mastered the non toll road route yet, so am hoping the routing is similar to what I am used to. Fingers crossed!!

Not knowing your situation marksfish, but I just bought my Nuvi through amazon.de, purchased with a Uk credit card delivered to an address in Spain. Saved myself quite a bit with the exchange rate as it is at the moment. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Not quite sure what you mean by that? You probably know you can set your nuvi to avoid tolls. I input the routes into mine then use BaseCamp to verify they are going where I want. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Probably didn't explain it very well. I do know how to avoid toll roads, but that isn't what I was getting at.
I know the way using the toll road and my old unit took me quite a nice way to avoid the toll. I hadn't quite got used to the nice new route I was using before changing units. I'm hoping the Nuvi will use a similar routing when I go, as it will be dark and landmarks will be difficult to see. So long as it gets me there, I don't have a problem, as long as it doesn't take longer :0

Then you can check the route before you go, either on your nuvi or using BaseCamp. I never follow my nuvi blind if I'm able to check the route beforehand. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
