The remote control on my 940 has stopped working, it does not connect to device, the led does not stop flashing.
Does anybody know if any new satnav is available with a remote control? I am finding it difficult to find a replacement remote for this device.
Thanks |

There are remotes on Ebay and Amazon Marketplace. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the descriptions. _________________ Richard

Thanks, I will check again, but when I last checked they looked like the even older style rf models.
Quite annoyed the remote control feature is missing on newer devices. |

Buybits seem to still do one - looks a bit pricey though...... _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Just a suggestion, but have you tried new batteries?
My 940 remote used to play up regularly and was usually cured by replacing the batteries (and it did seem to eat them - I ended up carrying a spare set in the car) even though the LED would light up OK - I suspect it had enough power to light the LED circuitry but not operate the bluetooth part of it.

Thanks for the buybits link, seems way too pricey to me.
I've tried changing the batteries as always carry spares due to driving minicab, just don't feel comfortable having to reach out to check address feels unsafe once you get used to the remote. |

The latest TomTom models have voice control, and a "trigger phrase" to start it listening, so you don;t have to tap the screen to begin.
Might be just what you need? (if it comes to an eventual replacement!) _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

For a possible cheaper replacement, try the Renault Carminat TomTom remotes - they look very similar, they work slightly differently, but I can assure you they'll do most stuff with your 940 - my Carminat one would act on my 520 and 550 if I linked it. But they are very little cheaper than original TT ones. Beware the under £10 ones offered on ebay, which claim bluetooth, but are for GOx00 and X10 range, so they are wireless, not bluetooth. _________________ Dennis

Thanks, I'll check out the Carminat remote, seen some on eBay but wasn't sure they would work. |

I've got one in a cupboard somewhere, PM me your address and I'll send it. Just cover the postage after you receive it, it hasn't been used since my 940 was nicked from my daughters car so I can't guarantee it works. It will take me a few days to dig it out. |

Thanks for the offer, but I've managed to get one off eBay. |
