But Mailwasher is only relevant if you are using a POP mailbox to delete the mails before you D/L them to your computer. If you are using a webmail type account, then you can delete them using that,
MailWasher Pro 7.5 (released 18 Feb 2015) apparently now has a feature to deal with IMAP usage by users of GMail, Outlook.com and many other email providers.

but it seems like Dennis is doing the latter, but it doesn't delete from the server (or recreates itself).
Yes that is a bit strange, so I agreed that Dennis should have a chat with his email people.

Does your email provider support IMAP?
Yes/no/maybe. I have a few domains, hosted by two different hosts. The first host is really just a registrar, whilst the second is a registrar and host with a generous amount of storage. The email that I want to have running IMAP can only be used for POP3 with it's current host, i.e. the first one - however I've been told that I can point that domains Name Servers to the other host (i.e. the second one) with the server storage. All fine in theory - I just need to test it!

I don't much fancy setting up rules to delete email before I see them - my idea of rules isn't necessarily very bright and I wouldn't want to delete something without looking first.
No you stay in control. When you run MailWasher, it indicates the status of each email (via highlighted colour code) you then manually override the status of any email that you want to, when you are happy you then press a button to "wash" i.e. delete the unwanted stuff, thus leaving you the emails that you do want to keep.
