|
|
Hi guys
After having POI problems with the new European map on my TomTom I have just bought myself a Garmin nuvi2569,
From GPS World I downloaded the Garmin POI Loader, UK Speed Zoned Complete, with MP3 Female (No Prefix) voice pack.
Because of the number of files in the Cam Zip, I created 4 Cam folders and put 32 files from the zip in each as per the instructions on site, they were all within a folder called POI, Using the POI loader I uploaded this POI folder to the device, using mph as per instructions.
Tried it last night, approach a gatso cam at just over the 30mph limit, got the 'beep' to say I was over the road speed, then nearer the camera got a visual icon in display, and a top line display, with a double 'beep', but no voice.
It would be appreciated if someone could help me sort the problem out, my 75 year old brain no longer functions as well as it did, - many thanks |

You need the WAV voice pack not MP3
You then need the SOX.exe to import the WAV
Have a dig around here because there are a few tutorials for how to use the sox. _________________ DashCam:

Hi Kremmen.
Thanks for your reply, will give it a go, I had read about that bit thought the nuvi 2569 required MP3 files, cheers |

Garmin did produce some units that would accept mp3 but they were the units that had an onboard mp3 music player. _________________ DashCam:

Hi again Kremmen
Have done as you suggested:-
Downloaded SOX.exe copied to Garmin/POI Loader
Grouped the UK Zoned Speed Camera extraction (originally had 4 folders all with 32 files in as per instructions) to one POI file.
Downloaded from PGPS and extracted the voice wave files for Speed Zoned Cameras
Replaced the MP3 files with the WAV version where appropriate
Used POI loader to install on Memory Card
Only slight error was that the transfer showed that 15,000 files had been created
Only a road trip will show whether its worked.
cheers |

You should be able to turn the GPS simulator on, and drive a simulated route by your fireside, to test the camera warnings.

15,000 is about right if you've included mobile sites. Mine is usually about 10k of cameras without mobiles. Shows how many are out there! _________________ DashCam:

Hi dales,
Thanks for the reply, never thought of that, you may have realised that Garmin Sat Nav is all new to me, used with TomTom but not a lover of their latest offerings.
Have had a long running battle with TomTom over there latest European Map which I use in France, the new map put all my POI of places in a totally different position, reverting back to the old map correctly located them, it also changed my home location to the Ferry at Portsmouth, so hence the change to Garmin. |
