Hey guys, new to the forum and new to Garmins really.
I had purchased a Garmin Nuvi a few years back for my mom and it came with Lifetime Updates. Well about a month ago, someone broke into her jeep and stole it.
Well today, i found a good deal on a Garmin Nuvi 255w so i got it for her.
My question is, can i use the Lifetime updates on my computer on the new Garmin? Or is it only good for the device it came with (stolen one) ? |

Afraid lifetime maps are for the unit they were purchased for. So no, for your new nuvi you'll need to buy them again. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Sorry to hear about your mom being ripped off! If you contact Garmin they may be able to put a stop to the updates on that unit as it's all serialised. They might even be able to trace it if the nugget who stole it has registered for map updates... just my 2p worth but give it a shot!
good luck

That would be brilliant if manufacturers could wipe known stolen units when connected to the net for an update.
They do similar for phones. _________________ DashCam:

They probably could... But imagine if you bought one and then someone reported it as stolen and it got wiped... |
