I think we have moved away from our original (sub) topic about using 44 x 44 icons. Kremmen kindly put up my screen view following a query about 3598-acceptable icon sizes; shall we stop now?

I appreciate everyone who has contributed to a solution but am still a little unclear.

My critical issue is getting the voice files to work.

I am able to download PGPS speed files that include either wav or mp3 voices. When I download with mp3 voices it appears that the POI loader accepts them. When I download with wav files the POI loader rejects them.

Are you suggesting that I need the wav files but need to use sox.exe to convert the wav files in the POI Loader root directory?

Kremmen - To answer your question you can load the POI's via the POI loader manual option. This gives you the opportunity to change the speed and distance to the POI.

I could not find anything else on the forum that covers this issue but as a newbie to the forum may not be searching for the right thing!

Wishing I had stuck with my old TT700! It seems to deal with POI's much better and gives you options as to which you have displayed.

I also get an annoying beep every time you go over the speed limit by 1 mph. Anyone know how to stop this from going off?

Hi

Yes, Sox.exe needs to be in the same directory as the .wav files and poiloader.exe. It should then run fine.

Yes, should be in Settings, Map & Vehicle, Audible speed alerts

Much appreciated.

Tried the sox.exe file in the POI Loader director and downloaded the wav file format. It now appears to be working but will get a better idea when I go out past a speed camera. Just tried it on simulator.

The audible speed alerts are showing as disabled but it still beeped on me earlier today! I will see what happens next time I am out.

Is there a definitive link to the 'old' sox.exe that is needed to make stuff work. It has oft been repeated 'use an old version' with no indication from where it is available. Would it not be helpful if there were a link to the correct version in the Garmin speedcam setup help

Sox just needs to be in the poiloader.exe folder, the wav files need to be in the same location as the csv/gpx and bmp files.

That doesn't take me to anywhere that I can see sox.exe

That's why I was suggesting a definitive link somewhere central and the Garmin installation guide seemed to me to be as good a place as any and a lot better than most. Rolling Eyes
There must be dozens of links scattered around the Garmin posts here, some of which work, some of which don't and some of which lead you to the wrong version.

At least that link leads to a sox.exe download. I don't actually want it as I don't have a Garmin. I just brought up the subject as so many people ask from where they can get a version of sox.exe that actually works. Apparently some don't.
