Garmin CSV to GPX Converter

I used windows explorers menu/tools/folder options then te view tab and unchecked Hide protected operating system files.
I am looking for the PGSPW files, In the POI directory I have a GarminCSV.gpi is that it?

If you are using win 7 and cannot see the explorer menu bar this from microsoft

To show the menu bar temporarily

On the taskbar, click the Windows Explorer button Picture of the Windows Explorer button..

Press the Alt key. The menu bar appears above the toolbar.

To hide the menu bar, click any menu item or press Alt again.

To show the menu bar permanently

On the taskbar, click the Windows Explorer button Picture of the Windows Explorer button..

On the toolbar, click Organize, point to Layout, and then click Menu bar.

To hide the menu bar, follow the same steps.

Work on the VB6 version is well under way and I have a very early beta version working. There is lots of testing to do but I have loads of time.

The version here I hope will remain for those who want it. The VB6 version will be slightly different, has a smaller footprint but will likely need some additional install tweaks on Win7 unless you install under full Admin privileges.

I hope you'll forgive an impertinent request (repeating one I raised some while ago):

Could you consider designing the new version so that it is possible to configure it to give *one* approach warning (and one warning only) at a specified distance from any type of device?

I appreciate that you are kindly trying to fulfill a raft of user requirements, not least your own. The above is driven by warning overload: on a long journey too many warnings cause the senses to be dulled and less attention paid than ought to be the case. With one warning it is then down to my Mk. 1 eyeball to identify the device and that requirement enhances my concentration whilst not deluging me with endless repetitive information.

If you could also find a way to crack and use the Garmin directional information that would be a bonus ...... :smile:

the option is to change the timings on the app and it's all trial and error, the app only creates the camera information for Garmin to read, it does not tell it how many times to tell you when near a camera, this is done via the settings on the device (ie single or continuous)

the Garmin cameras are done in a weird way and use 3 files and have probably been compressed - only way to get information is to sit there and decipher what they have done.

Yes, it's the Garmin that controls most of this.

If you run the program and put a zero in all the Overspeed boxes then it will create a set of files that will only contain a # in the speed area of the GPX file.
This in turn will force the Garmin to always produce at least one warning. If it produces any more than that is the Garmin taking over.

In my experience I'm only getting a single warning for each camera and then a subsequent warning when I'm overdoing it.
When you do get multiple warnings make sure that there are not 2 cameras close together.

Hi Kremmen

I have used CSV Converter a few times, thank you.
This is the first time I have tried to use it with the pocketgps_eur database and I note it does not shorten the name or rename 30 to thirty.

I understand the need to set KPH in the PoiLoader but wanted to check if everything else worked the same as the pocket_uk files?
You have a distance calculator for kph so I guess I need to change my preferences.
Is there a risk of PoiLoader spotting the "30"?

Gatso, Specs, Mobile have 7 each = 21
Redlight
Mobile adds another 7

Unless I'm mis-reading how it works?

On the positive front I'm hoping to look at it again in November as I'm back with my Garmin and a new PC in November will be loaded with Visual Studio 2013 so I'll upgrade it to .NET 4.5. At that point I'll look at the Euro camera names.

It's NSEW again.

PoiLoader has a limit of 32 categories in Sub-folders.

So the straightforward answer to multiple categories is to put all of the camera files at the root of their folder, and not in a sub-folder.

(The other POIs - Accommodation etc - CAN go in sub-folders to keep them tidy and separate).

For the UK I have 101 directional gpx files at present (plus associated wav and bmp files).

Hi

Take the download from the first page in the thread as MaFt has updated that one.

It should be 22/07/2013 in the program header when it displays.

I've looked at updating it but I've used it quite often since then and it works flawlessly for me every time so I'm stuck for ideas.

There have been suggestions like adding a directional bit of text but I don't have the WAV files for that and I can't take Ash's as that would be copyright.

I need to work out how to use them because I would need to convert the directions into NSEW and then work out to make sure I don't have over 32 folders.
