I have a screen shot of the Sygic map route showing how it took me off the A1 in London, through a housing estate, then rejoined A1 quarter of a mile straight on. There were no traffic problems.
Another experience was travelling back from north Wales when Sygic wanted to take me through busy tourist-bursting towns rather than a more direct cross-country route.
Sadly the screenshot is on my computer at home and I am away for ten days. Can post a link then.
It was a year or so back - maybe things have improved. _________________ Tim

I've found that setting planning route to economic rather than fastest produces more "expected" results |

Although I still have the old version on my tablet (which I generally use as my work SatNav), I occasionally forget it and have to use the new version on my phone.
Even after updates, it's still awful and am considering alternatives.
I think NavFree is now easier to use than Sygic, but would prefer something with access to 3rd Party POI's.
Anything out there, or shall I invest in a TomTom XXL (the last one since the also dropped the feature)? _________________ Cheers

The new version accepts user POIs the same as the old version but you cannot set a proximity alert. I posted a link to the old version (apk) a while ago.
It's the updates that killed this function. |

My old POI's do "appear" in the new version, but I do find the "rupi" stuff awkward. I also can't find how to add a location to an ecidting POI file _________________ Cheers

Yes, the RUPI method is a bit cumbersome, but at least you can add the files, unlike the recent TomTom offereings. It would be good if MaFt could work his magic and provide a RUPI file directly.
I presume 'ecidting ' is a typo for 'existing'? |

Yes, "existing" (damn phones, I disable auto-replace as that's even worse)
