TomTom customer services say that most of their new devices don't support third party POI's, and they don't have any time frame where it will be supported (although it is being beta tested, according to the TT forum).
This will only affect newish models running the MyDrive system.
My only options are to subscribe to TT's camera database or send the unit back while I still can.
DON'T buy a new TomTom |

I think you'll find this advice has been given on these forums for some time now!
If I were you I'd return it and buy an earlier Start model.
My sister has a Start 25 and I have a Via 135 (which is the same as the Start 25 but with the addition of hands-free calls via a compatible mobile phone) and both have access to "Add community content" in MyDrive. I've added the PGPSW cameras to mine and update them every week without any problems.
You can get the UK version with lifetime maps from Amazon for £89.95 here or with WE maps for £99.99 here.
There may be better deals around but I don't have time to check right now. _________________ Anita

Thanks Anita,
Sound advice, I'll find out how to return it.
It was a generous Christmas present, otherwise I would of done my researched before I parted with my cash.
Hopefully I'll find a bargain before the January sales end. |

This website shows price comparisons for the Start 25. For lifetime maps you should look at the Start 25M. Currently the best deal seems to be £79 for the WE version from Halfords. _________________ Anita

Thanks for that Anita, it's very good of you to do the research for me.
As soon as I've sent this one back I will get a replacement ordered. |

I've just re-visited this topic and think it needs rounding off with some facts.
Although what the TT "helpdesk" said is true... the latest models CANNOT (yet) import or use third-party POIs, it was totally unhelpful for the OP's enquiry. They should be ashamed of their performance.
His model CAN take the POIs, the only problem he was having was getting TomTom's MyDrive/Connect software on the PC to show him the correct menu item to allow the POI installation.
If you can't see the "Add community Content" item when you click on the TT icon in the bottom right of the PC screen and the device is properly connected and switched on, then the problem is with that software or the connection between the PC and TomTom unit. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
