You shall probably waiting a long time. How long have you got? It's an answer I have never seen in the six years I've been here.
You may get lots of conflicting advice or no advice at all because everybody has different needs and expectations.
Your best bet is to pop along to a shop where they sell SatNAvs of various budgets, types and brands, get your hands on them and have a fiddle. Workout which ones seem most intuitive for you and do some research about the features you would like to see, etc. and your budget.
When you have a short list perhaps ask here again about pros & cons of particular models, I'm sure existing owners of those models would be more than willing to tell you what they find good or bad about their device.
Sorry if this reply comes over as a bit pompous, it's really not meant to be. It's just my honest advice. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Sorry that it wasn't the answer you were looking for.
Hopefully, another member may be passing and offer different advice.

Do you want to add speed cameras or other POI's not provided by the manufacturer? Then you need a Garmin.
Do you want to connect to a wired connection on a motorcycle - you need a Garmin.
Do you want lifetime free map updates - you need a Garmin.
Otherwise, I find TomTom a little easier to use with a slightly better looking display. But Garmins are not hard to use or view.
Does that help?

Speaking as a life long TomTom fanboy who would rather poke a sharp stick into their eye than use a Garmin.
I used to sell sat nav and thought TT & Garmin were neck and neck with TT having a slight lead due to the superb user interface and customisation, Mio and Navman followed behind with anything else not worth bothering with. I now believe that Garmin have the edge due to TTs lack of listening to what the customer wants, lack of personalisation available on their new products and the less than intuitive new user interface. _________________ Garmin Drive 51LMT-S EU

....Or an older model TomTom.
POI support MAY still appear on the new ones if TomTom ever get their act together.

Not sure what you mean there. I have connected several TomToms to motorcycles

Eh??? There have been plenty of TomTom models with free lifetime map updates. ALL of the current models have them.

One thing not yet mentioned is Live Traffic, which TomTom is still the best at. Others have the data but don't yet use it for diverting you away (licence costs, I think). |
