Out of curiosity, what is Garmin's policy on firmware updates? I bought a 2598 about this time last year. Is this now unsupported in effect?
Many thanks,

Not at all. I have a 1490 and it was last updated 27 Nov 2012, well after it was released.
Garmin continue to issue firmware updates if there are any issues ... for your 2598 (same series as my 2508) an update has only just been released

Thanks for getting back to me and I hadn't remembered that it was updated in September!

Do Garmin send out update alerts - firmware, maps, cameras etc? |

That's not quite true. Express runs in the background if you accept the default setting. It'll tell you when there is an update. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Thank you.
Changing from one make to another is like changing a well worn pair of gloves |
