Until my last download, when I had no route planned the display showed the car driving along the road the same as if I had planeed a route.

i like this display.

Now, when no route is planned, it shows the circle/arrow of where you are but not as per if you were on a route.

How can I change the display as to how it was before?

Cheers.

Firstly, what was the "last download" of? Software update? Map? Something else?

Now... When you say the display is "just showing the circle/arrow of where you are but not as per if you were on a route", that sounds to me like you're looking at the 2D view at the moment with no route planned, and the 3D display when you ARE navigating.
Does that sound right?

Quite a long time ago, someone at TomTom thought it was a bright idea to force the unit back to 2D view once you reach a destination (a damn stupid idea in my opinion), but you should still be able to manually switch back to 3D view at any time.
I don't have an 825 but on most models of that age you can switch between 2D and 3D views by tapping the leftmost panel of the status bar.

Alternatively, just always select a route/destination! (I know you shouldn't have to....)

Andy you are a genius! yes it was a map update last week that started all this.

I went into 2d/3d setttings and it says "tap bottom left hand side of screen to return to 3 d view."

I have done this and happy view has returned thanks a million.

Kind regards

Alan
