Does anyone know if Ash10 is still around?

I tried to download the latest version for a new laptop and the link had expired. I have a copy of his files but wondered if anybody had been in contact recently as it would be a shame if he is no longer active in this forum

I have it still working - after 'nothing' was changed last time - on Windows 7.
Ive also moved the files to a different machine and it works fine.

However moving it onto Windows 10 causes it to freeze.

It got as far as downloading the database and producing the output.csv, but stopped short of producing the individual camera type csv files

That is running it under compatibility mode and as administrator for all users

I'm also using Windows 10.

To keep running Ash10 I had to install a virtual machine with VMWare Player (free) and my original Windows XP disc.

It's not difficult, just a little extra admin, and it means I can keep using my directional voice camera alerts.

Dales.

I find it does work but whilst it apparently feezes it is actually converting the files, albeit very slowly.

Any change to settings will cause it to "apparently" freeze but it just needs time to do its stuff - on my Windows 10 laptop each download/conversion can take upwards of 7 or 8 minutes, but the end result is spot on - as always!

Yes I agree
It worked eventually took about 15 mins to convert the files, watch them updating in File Explorer (Manager!)

Not sure if it needs compatibility or not. Running further tests ...

I guess the settings are contained within the exe file.
Im not a programmer but its a shame it wasnt run with an ini file or something so you could edit settings without loading it.

Ive just changed a warning time which should cause it to regenerate the gpx files, but as soon as i hit ok it froze again and ive no idea what its doing

Give it 7 to 8 minutes and it should unfreeze.

If you go to the directory on your PC that POI Loader uses you will see the .TMP files being built.

Ive ended it and restarted it with the previous Windows 8 compatibility and run as admin and it has responded to my change of warning time and is compiling the gpx files.

So i guess ill leave it at that but just allow an extra 15 mins for the run time.

Dales asked me ages ago and sent me the directional voice files but it would involve a complete redesign and rewrite of some core sections. That would be after lengthy analysis.

Something I haven't got time for at the moment.

The Visual Studio VB source code is available to anyone who wants a go though.

How does it perform on your W10 machine? Or was it BAVC10 with W10?
